Here is my system:
MB= Asus A7N8X rev. 1.6 Bios up to date
CPU= AMD XP 2400 266 front bus
Mem= 1 gig dual channel PC3200 Manufacturer unknown
Sound= CMI 5.1 Audio card
Drives= 2 Maxtor 133: 120gig 8 meg buffer and 40 gig 2 meg buffer
Video= ATI 9600 PRO 256 meg
Optical= Liteon 52X24X52 and Liteon 48X DVD player
PSU= 400 watt type unknown

The first question is does anyone know a program that can read the Spd on the memory and tell who made it. I got it from Hardcore Cooling on ebay and it is exactly as they describe: 1 gig PC3200 dual channel with a 6 layer pbc and timings of 6,3,2,2T, on a 400 front bus. this is if set to SPD. ON Auto it reads optimal,4,2,2,2T. and aggressive is 4,2,1,2T, on a 266 front bus.

I haven't messed with OCing because the memory I had wasn't really the kind that needed to be OCed, but now I have what seems to be some really good memory and am ready to venture into the realm of power users. The second ques. is which one of the above timings is the fastest for my system without being over clocked And if I take the cpu to a 333 front bus how tight might I be able to go with this memory? I can't think of any software off the top of my head, that will give detailed info of your memory. However, most BIOS will detect SPD fairly accurately and if your memory has a sticker with a model number, you can usually Google it and find more info at the MFR's website.

Running at 266 DDR you should be able to use aggressive timings with no problems, and when you get ready to go to 333 DDR, 5,2,2,2T sounds like a good starting place. Just loosen em' up a little if it gives you any trouble, or tighten em' up more if it runs good and you feel you want to tweak it a bit more.
