I prefer linux as an operating system, I use windows mostly for games/graphics/multimedia purposes.. "Unix is my OS, Windows is my Playstation."

In my little experience with linux I like it better. I just wish I knew more about it.

I have to go with Windows, as I never have so much as seen a rig that was running Linux.

I had tried installing RedHat 6.0 on a pc a few years ago, without much luck.
I have been using Windows for over 5 years, and think it's a very flexable OS........ So I'm voting for Windows

Biggest prob I had was wit red hat/mandrake, on boot up it wouldnt bring up the nic so i had no access to my lan/internet. worked fine wit knoppix thou but thats a live cd.

I've been playing with Linux since '99, and have been running it as my primary OS (98% of the time) for about 2-3 years.
While it still has quirks as a desktop, although making great strides every year, its abilities as a server are unparralled compared to Windows.
If you don't code, whether C/C++/Perl/Java or web program/DB (PHP/Mysql/Postrgre/etc), then it doesn't have as much of a perk to use.
I will say against most beliefs it can do everything Windows can, as I do play games, either natively such as Doom 3, UT orig/2003/2004, Quake 3, Medal of Honor (beta binary) or through an emulator like Cedega, run multimonitors, watch video with every codec out there, etc.
It does require more time, partly due to requiring yourself to learn something new, but also not having friends/etc to ask. In some ways things are easier to setup, but in all, its usually harder, especially the first time you set it up.
Just thought I'd put in my thoughts and experiences.

Id have to agree on the coding part. Im not so sure about the server side thou. 2003 Server performs pretty good and have been told by a friend of mine thats a network admin that it does perform a lil better, but of course I cant argue that one cause ive never used linux for a server.

Use windows, learning linux, still prefer windows.
Of course, I could just be bitter at how hard a time I had making a shortcut.

I used to have Mandrake v10. Windows is the only choice when it comes to gaming and multimedia so Im sticking with that
Linux and games are starting to become more friendly with one another  hopefully you'll be able to emulate all games if not install them in linux.
