Electronic Arts doesn't take control of the ESPN license until next year, but that isn't stopping Take-Two from ditching the brand early. Representatives from the publisher confirmed to GameSpot that they are dropping the "ESPN" from the forthcoming game, ESPN Major League Baseball 2K5. It was to be the last Take-Two-published game to carry the sports network's moniker.

This whole monopoly on a sport (which is what it basically is... you own the names you own the sport) is driving me nuts. I'm waiting for someone to find a way to fight it legally.

just give it a couple of years. they will be in court for an antitrust case. till then, i guess i'll have to bite the bullet if i wanna play sports games.
