anyone here that knows if the Tbred B's 2600+ will be a good oc'er? i would oc, but only if i can gain enough, now its on 166,4*12.5, but could i get it at 200*12 with aircooling? now i still have a arctic super islent thats rated for a 2200+ on my 2600+ :( i think ill wait till the contest is over, that swiftech beauty would sure as hell give me some much better temp's then that POS arctic cooling :(

if your multiplier is unlocked and you have the ram/chipset to do it, probably :)

Thanks to you guys and especially to silenze, I also managed to overclock my system. (god, that sounds n00b)

Here we go:

Xp 3200+ @ 11.5*210 = 2415 mhz @ 1.85v
with the volcano 12 HSF on manual
on my asus a7n8x-e deluxe
with 2*256 corsair twinx 3200ce @ 215 mhz 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 9
my on board SiI raid controller has
2*80 gb barracuda 8 mb 7200.7 SATA on raid-0
video is my club 3d fx5900xt @ 475/780
pinnacle pctv pro
LG dvd 16x
LG dvd +- burner
This all stuffed in my raid max 668 with it's 420 watt PSU
Looking at a viewsonic G90fb 19" and a Philips 105E 15".

Sisoft:
dhrystone ALU 9366
Whetstome FPU 3897
Integer aEMMX 23350
Float 24918
RAM Int 3196 MB/s
RAM Float 2981 MB/s

Atto HD benchmark: 83 MB/s

Aquamark 3 42.247

The Cpu temp I keep at about 46 degrees, idle @ 3200 rpm, full load 53 degrees
A few things:

- Something's odd with my video card. I've tried to flash it with other bioses a couple of times (5950u, 5900), but if I get windows to start up, it's one big artifact. Also I can't clock beyond 475/779. If I raise the mem higher, the thing doesn't pass it's test, if I raise the core any higher performance drops quickly. Last strange thing, eventhough 'apply at startup' is checked, it always resets itself to 475/700 :?

-The on board raid controller is not very impressive, did not know that at the time. When my account status is better, I will think about a promise controller.

So, as you can see, a nice system but with very typical behaviour. Maybe that's what makes it special......

Okay, see sig below for specifics, but I got my Asus P4P800 Deluxe with a Northwood 3Ghz to 3.67Ghz (980fsb 245x4!) I could probably hit 3.8Ghz at 1000fsb(250x4), but I'm only using Crucial PC3200 memory. MY biggest issue is, I can raise the memory and CPU voltages a bit, but I am still running memory by SPD. Can anyone give suggestions on the memory timings(clocks) for Crucial PC3200? I ain't got a clue.

I have my Mobile 2600+ currently running 12.5x200 = 2.5Ghz @ 1.65v
temps about 40c under full load.
Probably get 13x200 if I up the voltage
also running crucial memory so my FSB is not what it could be

Update:
I can't get it to run very long at 2.6 and am noticing some voltage spikes on my Vcore that has me a little nervous,
I think its my 300 watt PSU about to choke under the strain.

Thanks! Hope I can get as much as you and Playafly out of an A64 chip. I'm a bit leary of getting a new core as soon as they come out though. Been seeing mixed results with the Venice, some really good, some kinda poor. I got burnt when Barton first came out.

So you switched from the XP-120 to the 90c Silenze? Is the cooling difference huge or is it more dependent on the fan?

silenze

With the fans I used.. (46CFM 92mm, 79CFM 120mm), the XP90-C won by 7° C and it's smaller... I like it better :P

Thats pretty easy, after you have cpu-z or what every you use opened hit the "print screen" key then go into what every image editor you have (if you dont have one use "Paint") & then just paste the image, resize the canvas & image down a lil & your set.

Now I know you guys are thinking "Ok this guy got a 100mhz OC, big deal" Youre right, this is a sissy OC but if I push it to far my mobo goes thru MAJOR mood swings and wont boot up for a day at least, and the only way it does boot is if i reset my cpu and bios and vid card and unplug all my accessories. So yes 100mhz is all im pushing call me a sissy, but technically I am. And Im 14, outta money, and sick of remounting my cpu, my arctic silver5 bottle is almost gone. Here it is.

better cooling for one. i raised the case back up a few inches, allowing the rad fans to do their job better. also, i added in a fan controller so i can run my fans at full speed when under load.

as for settings, 310 x 9, 2-2-2-5 1T with 140 mhz divisor, 3.0 mem voltage and 1.7 vcore

silenze
12-04-2006, 11:54 AM
Slobbingham: You would be more than safe to run 1.6v through that CPU on air cooling if the temps hold up alright, so you could probably get an even higher clockspeed out of it if that is prime/orthos stable.. and having an FX you can step it up in small increments from there using the multiplier, HTT and mem divisors to your advantage..

Janus

Mine's fairly tame compared to a lot of these, but:
Asus P5N-E SLI motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 Allendale 2.0GHZ, overclocked to 2.8GHZ (unlinked from memory)
Stock Intel heatsink/fan
Asus Geforce 8600 GT video card, overclocked from 540/700 to 630/825
Antec Sonata case with 2 120mm fans, one in front pulling air in around the hard drives and one in back.

Runs extremely quietly and stably; my central air conditioning system is louder.
I've heard of many people pushing the E4400 over 3GHZ, but 2.8GHZ stable works for me.

EDIT: oh, and no voltage tweaking done either.
