I read the rules twice, and no where in the rules did I see any information on what happens to our "personal information" after the contest is over.

Will you destroy the loser's personal information and remove it from your database, after the contest is over?

I don't want my name and home address distributed to advertisers or a mailing list. Especially when I live in an apartment with a tiny little box where they stick our mail and can't afford to have it full up with junk snail-mail. Already the apartment manager here threatens to make people buy a post office box, and its a real headache. So I try to keep my junk snail-mail to the absolute minimum.

So I consider this a serious question. What happens to our personal information, if we don't win, after the contest is over?

Once the contest is over, I go through and randomly select the winners via a random number generator. Their information is passed along to Corsair for prize shipment. I then take all of the email addresses, write them down and send them to Corsair, as per the rules of the contest, for inclusion in their newsletter. Once that is done, I delete the email account completely. The only "mail" you will get is the Corsair newsletter.

Playa not that i'm complaining about the contest, but why didn't you put a post limit for people allowed to join the contest? We have gained like 60 users since the contest began and all have made around 1 post, in the contest thread.

well, when you put that sort of restriction on a contest, not many people will join.

with only 1 post required, you get more new members, who in turn, might A) stick around and become a regular on the boards or B) might have a better chance of participating in future contests, seeing as they are already registered. 8)

I was planning to stick around and become a regular member.

The reason why I was asking this question is because I worry about giving out my home address and then getting tons and tons of junk snail-mail in my real life mailbox. I already receive enough junk snail-mail in my physical mailbox that had things like "You just been pre-selected as a 1 million dollar winner" printed in big black letters on the front of the envelope. They also come in these gigantic yellow envelopes that take up the entire space of my small apartment mailbox.

On the otherhand, I don't mind getting junk email, because I can just set filters on my email software to filter it out. But so far I don't think anyone has invented a way to filter junk snail-mail from being sent to your physical mailbox. Or has some invented a way, and I just don't know about it yet?

It wouldn't be so bad if I would actually WIN a MILLION DOLLARS!

If they gave me a million dollars, then I wouldn't mind them sending me all the junk mail they want for the rest of my life :)
