Replaced the old restrictive intake on the front of my praetorian with a more 'free-flowing' design.

Old:

and new:

ps thanks XPTB...

I'm gonna have to go negative on that one... old design was classier, and vents like that won't really restrict airflow.

looks much better, but instead of those glossy fans you need to put blue neon, or led fans in to it.

I also bought a new lexan side panel, seen in the first pic below. I am very tempted to tape off the center of the lexan and paint around the edges of it, resulting in my horrible photochop below.

Why can't you just mod your Praetorian default panel?

playafly187

involves cutting the side panel, which i dont have the tools to do

I still say the interior needs to be painted black, it would bring everything together. 8)

painting acrylic isn't the easiest thing in the world. for one, the paint starts eating into the acrylic. if you do it, you'll need to do alot of very thin coats so that the paint dries before it can eat at the acrylic.

also, make sure you paint the inside of the acrylic. this will give it a nice glossy appearance on the outside, and a bit of a mirror tint to it.

Well I just meant the interior metal framing, but yeah..

For the pain in the ass it would be to paint that acrylic you could just get a metal shop or something to do the cutting of the panel for you.

hehe, guess i should have checked this thread again first. i just finished painting it about 30 min. ago and it is drying now.

the material is acrylic, not plexi, so i dunno if that matters. i sprayed the inside of the sheet, so yeah, it will have a glossy finish.

i would love to spray the inside of the case, but that would require removing all of my hardware (and my 3-4 hour wiring job).

you'd be suprized how much perf restricts airflow.
it is rated by "free area" and I'd guess that's about 30%.
one factor is lots of little holes have lots of drag inducing edges as compared to a single large hole of the same area.
The expanded metal (new grill) is much more efficient.
but I agree the original looks better to me.

it is very glossy. a bit more than I would have liked, but oh well. I think it turned out really well.

Looks good but you are right a little too glossy for my tastes. I'll get some pics of my new case up soon and with in three weeks I'll get some modding done to it.

Saves you from having to paint all inside as well which is a bonus.

i think ya need to paint those silver fan brackets, those things take focus off of the fans and the black scheme. Great job though, i love it. [smilie=icon_biggrin.gif]
