View Full Version : My new truck

I did it. I have a new truck (technically). Once I sell my car it will be 100% mine. It's a 1991 Nissan Pickup... basic of the basics, 4 cyl 5 speed. No power anything, not even steering, heh. It has 160k miles on it which isn't that bad for a Nissan.

Once I get home from school I'll take a pic of it and show it off... or rather let you look at how much it needs a paint job. At this point though, I could care less what it looks like as long as it drives smooth.

When you crank the motor, you can't even tell its running except for the fan spinning. It's dead quiet. I even got up to the dealer to pick it up when they opened. Its 20 degrees here and it cranked up without a hitch, not even valve clatter. I would imagine it has some of that Lucas oil additive in it. I'll probably keep adding that stuff if need be.

Sure did. Selling that joker for 5 grand. picked up this truck for 2. that's a hell of a profit 8)

this way, ill be rid of the curse and have money in the bank if something happens to this truck (since i couldn't afford to fix anything else on the stang).

did you clean up under the hood or did it come that way? cause that's the cleanest engine compartment I've seen on a non-show/brand new truck.

I think the dealership he got it from did a bit of tidying up.

As long as it makes him happier than the upkeep on the Mustang did, I'm satisfied. And, well, getting to the camp on his land should be a lot easier now. =) I foresee a lot of camping trips this year.

hehe, let me correct that for you...

as you all know, XPTB has the worst luck of anyone, ever. he comes down to hang out a few days ago... ever since, bad things have been happening. i wake up this morning with a bad cough, sore throat, chills, aches and pains, etc... so i go to fix some chicken noodle soup and cut my thumb on the can... then later in the day, im eating some yogurt and it falls off my desk and goes all over the carpet.

so yeah, thanks XPTB!

btw, nice truck, although im still partial to the stang [smilie=5bowtie.gif]

I drive a 94 nissan sentra. Good car, but lots of little problems... and it got backed over by a truck. Still drives though, which is the main thing. I'll be ditching it this summer (hopefully) in favor of a '99 Mercury Cougar.

Hey cool, I broke the quote tags... I could fix that... nah.

Yeah, I know. I will, of course, drive one before slapping money down too. :)

I found the source of my bad luck, and its name is Old Navy Jacket.

Playa has had incredible bad luck ever since I left. Even his wife has had a few mishaps. Then they discovered that my jacket is still there sitting on the chair. bum bum bum...

I think I'm just going to get me a new jacket

Since the truck is so old, they don't actually make speakers anymore that fit the door. it requires the skinny 5 1/4". So I bought some 6 1/2"s and plan on modding the truck a touch. I'll get some pics once I can contact Striker777 and see about getting some soldering done. hehehe

soldering wire to wire is the best idea in steroe systems... not sure why he'd be soldering directly to the speakers though.

i owned one. great car. make sure you keep the gas above a quarter tank though. the fuel pumps tend to burn up pretty quick if you run it on empty alot. that was the only problem i had with mine...well till a drunk lady totaled it for me while i was inside my house sleepin.

yeh, like silenze said though, for 170hp, it was sluggish as could be. they just run too rich. also, stear away from the automatic. itīs a full second slower on 0-60 and 2 seconds slower in the quarter mile.

I tend to run it down to a quarter and then top it off. Fuel pump hasn't been an issue... an oil leak, the exhaust, and every other small thing has.

I take it you've driven both then? How does the Cougar compare to the sentra?

a 99 cougar v6 is still slow when compared to a sentra SER. the cougar is heavier on top of the fact that the sentra has a wider power band.

however, if the sentra you speak of isnīt an SER, then the cougar could well be faster.

Erm.. if you're going to pay the insurance to drive a V6 cougar or an SE-R.. you should look for an Integra GSR.. 170hp 1.8l 4 cylinder, about 14.9-15.2 in the 1/4 stock... cheaper than an SE-R.. the Spec-V is the semi-quick one..

The GSR bluebooks at 8500 for the sport, 7500 for the non sport for the same year/mileage as I've been looking at for other cars. That's way out of my range.
