I've just ordered a new system consisting of a

ASUS P5GD2 Premium INTEL 915P P4-800/533MHZ FSB
INTEL P4 530 90NM 3.0G FSB800 LGA775
CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 675 (PC2 5400)
MSI RX600XY-TD128 (RADEON x600XT) 128 MB

planning on a trial-and-error manual OC, to whatever I can get it to while keeping the high-load running temp below 50-55. but I haven't done it before. after looking through the guides everyone has here, I'm just curious as to what a more experienced OC'er would expect from the parts I'm getting.

I suppose it would be helpful to know that I would be running stock on-chip cooling for a bit, and a XION-II case. 3 fans

Really depends on how good your cpu/ chipset heatsink is, if you have adequate case cooling & what you keep your room temp at & how big your power supply is.

If you have decent cooling & so on, I would imagine you could probly bump up the cpu roughly 500mhz ~ 3.5g which would be a nice noticable improvement.

Just start bumping up the cpu by like 50mhz (.5g) at a time & keep a close eye on your temps & voltages (make sure they arent fluctuating too much). Youll know if your cpu temp goes much about 60c cause your machine will become unstable.

O yea, you probly wont be able to go up very high with the factory intel heatsink, I wouldnt bother o/c'in it untill you drop a better heatsink on it.
