lol, why dont you wait a bit (or you might be able to get them in their already) and get a 4400
thats a point, drifting off a bit. when i get my new computer, the bois might not be up to date for the 64 x2. assuming they dont work using one core without the update - omg, what can i do!! i dont think my local cafe has any 939 pins lol (its a new cafe, started less than a year ago, so they were on a budget) but then the owners will proberbly have one. if not im bugerd!!

yeah, do the 1st one.
what happens if you plug in a x2 to a 939 mobo that hasnt has the bios update, will it just do fa? or will it boot but using only 1 of the cores

Which bios are you using, 1.5 ? I'm using the 1.8 now, with the fixed temp readings... only 25° C during windows use and around 40-42° C under load... even checked the heatsink a few times, the 92mm fan is at minimal rpm on the controller and the base nor the heatpipes of the sink even feel warm to the touch... running 290x9@1.62v venices rock 8)

Nice overclock on basically stock voltage, and very nice temps too, especially for low speed on the fan! You must be cranking the A/C to get those case temps!
What is the max safe voltage for these 90nm chips? I have heard ~1.65 on air, slightly higher for other cooling. Just wondering if a max vCore of 1.7 on a motherboard would be any kind of hindrance.
Just for comparison I think my mobile chip had a stock vCore of 1.45 but it folds 24/7 at 1.95 for over a year now.

It's been 60/70's here lately (on the warm side for Oregon..) so I've had my windows open.. house is nice and aired out, gets a little cool at night.. the XP-90C nor the northbridge heatsink even get warm to the touch..
There is a lot of debate over the voltages.. I would run 1.7v (I get a new chip like every 6 months or less, so what the hey..), but the max "safe" for air would probably be 1.65v, 1.7v with water or better..
That's +400Mhz
wedant01: +.05 (if default is 1.5v, go 1.55v, then 1.6v, etc..)

It's been consistant mid-nineties here for 2 weeks. Temps in the house are 76° F or so. Any lower sends the electric bill through the roof!
With a 24° C ambient I think 26° C case temp is pretty good. With all the voltage I'm pushing through my chip though I'm hitting mid-40's on the cpu. (at 100% load)

Same thing happened with my 3000 Venice when I first got it and overclocked it to far. It wouldn't run 100% stable anywhere. What I did was remove it from the system and made like I was building a new computer and when I restarted it, all was better, it even seems to OC a bit better. I run it at 250 HTT 24/7 now days and can hit 315 when going for max.

Had to knock the memory down twice, it's still topping out at ~450mhz at 2-2-2-5-1T with 2.9v which is the max of this board.
I'll need a booster or different memory to get it faster I guess.
Ignore the voltages, something isn't reporting right with MBM5 I think.

Well it posted at 3ghz but that's about it, haha. I'll have to try for a suicide shot and see what I can get.
Anyway, that 2.91 wasn't entirely stable it seems. I bumped it down a bit and got this OCCT stable.
I'm a bit perturbed, it seems my BIOS does not have adjustments for the CPU multiplier. I was going to knock it down to 8 and raise the HTT so I can get more bandwidth out of my memory.

And about the highest OC I can get to boot Windows. I tried 334HTT several times, would have been nice to see that 3000 Mhz even if it was just a suicide shot, but no cigar. After having to reenter all the BIOS settings several times from failed POSTS I gave up and this is what I got. I think I will probably knock this down to 2.8 for daily use so I can lower the voltage and keep the fan noise down. A 1ghz overclock is nothing to sneeze at, this 3000+ surpases everything I'd done prior even with the low voltage 1700+ and 2400+ Mobile AXP chips, so I can say I'm definitely satisified. Just have to wait for the next core I guess to punch through that 3ghz barrier.

Either 3000+ or 3200+ should hit 2.5 Ghz easily. The nice thing that the 3200+ gets you is a 10x multi which can help make it easier to run 1:1 memory.
I think if you use 3 sticks in an NF4 board you're gonna have to run 2T.
2500/11 = 227 which shouldn't be all that hard to get the right 3200 or 3500 memory to do with low timings. But if you go with the 3200+ and try for 250x10 then some PC4000 might be just the ticket.

Thermalright XP-90 and the fan of your choice.
1:1 refers to the memory ratio. Means that whatever you run your HTT ("FSB") at you are running your memory at the same speed.
Take my system for example. I'm running 320x9 but to run 1:1 that would require like DDR633 PC5000 which doesn't even exist yet I think. So I have to use the 9/14 memory divider which knocks my memory speed down to 205 or DDR410. The other option I have is the 9/11 divider which puts the memory at 261 which requires DDR533 or better.

I have to flash my bios tonight with some updates. I also wanna give teh silver 5 time to settle in there and form bonds. On my mobo there is like 15 different things that have volts on them so i need to figure out wich one is hte cpu voltage. cause i think i shoud up it to about 1.4v instead of 1.38. Anyway this is a great processor. i love this motherboard it is so nice.
