Ok, so I recently began reading "The Hobbit" and I just got past the part where Bilbo does the Riddle thing with Gollum when he recieves the ring.
When I read it I knew I heard or saw that before. My question is, is there a spot in one of the movies where we see a part of this. More specifically the "What do I have in my pocket?' part.

Nope, in the movie Gollum (smeagol at this point) kills his friend for the ring when they find it in the river, then runs off to the cave in the mountain for hundreds of years, it only touches on that part of the story.. it then just shows the ring bounce down a hill away from Gollum and Bilbo comes along and finds it laying in the dirt while searching around in the cave somewhere... hears Gollum yelling around for his precious and takes off, keeps it/etc...

It's found in the animated movie of "The Hobbit" made in '77.

It's mentioned in the trilogy (books)...though I can't really remember to what extent.

Yeah. I read the entire trilogy every few years. I know that Bilbo tells the entire (true) story at Rivendale, though I'm pretty sure it isn't spelled out there. Maybe it is rehashed in "The Two Towers" early in the period after Gollum joins Frodo and Sam.

I suppose that it could be in the animated version of LOTR that came out in the 80's. (I think it was in the 80's anyway) I don't think that I've ever seen it. Yeah, I have...now that incredibly stupid song from it, "Frodo of the Nine Fingers" is running through my damn head. DAMN! :barf:

To be honest, I also think I've seen it somewhere...though often I'll read a book and later think I saw the movie or vice versa.

I've asked a few other people and they also think that they may have seen it. Funny how the human mind works.
