I've had a great idea for a case mod and im currently working on it. I have an old midi hifi that has a nice alarm feature, an LCD display, remote and radio still working and a 3CD changer and a tape deck that aren't. The alarms allows me select which output id like to activate. So i have stripped out the parts of the hifi that dont work and the unit still functions. Now i want to use a relay to link the cd function of the hifi to the power on switch on my pc. This means i can use the hifi remote to turn my pc on by selecting the cd function, and likewise i can set the alarm to turn on the cd function and my pc will turn on instead.
the hifi has LED's indicating which function is selected so i think a relay in place of the CD function LED will give me what i want.
now to my problem, im not sure where to look for a suitable relay, it should preferably be something that is operated at a similar current as a small LED ( less than an 1amp) and around 5volts. As this isn't a topic many people will be able to help with i have put it in a few forums on the off chance somewhen who can help sees it.
