So I’m new to OC computers and I just built my first but I scavenged an old HD of my oem e-machine and I’m ready for a new one
The question is should I buy two cheaper SATA HITACHI Deskstar 7K80 drives with 80GB and try to RADI or should I spend the 130$ on a single drive to get the best performance.
Or any other ideas for 130$ that you have for performance.

Assuming your motherboard offers SATA RAID I would recommend that route, although I suggest two 80Gb Seagate 7200.7 NCQ (Native Command Queuing) drives. They offer some of the fastest access speeds available today and come with a 5 year warranty.

The HITACHI can run SATA3.0GB and the Seagate you suggest does not. Will the Seagate still be the better option?

I've seen mixed reviews on the Hitachi drives, and the specs just don't seem to be any better. Either way you'll have a fast setup though.

I luv my twin Hitachi 7K80's. They are fast, pretty much silent, (my rig sits on my desk about 18" from my face and I can just barely hear them, sometimes not at all) and cheap.
If it means anything, I am always the first one to spawn into a new map on Battlefield 2 or BFV...sometimes as long as a minute before the next person does.

Just get a single 74GB raptor for $140 and save your self a lot of headache when you have to deal with raid0 related data corruption. And some raid0 setups add a tax to the cpu and thereby reducing overall system performance.
Get the raptor and your data will be safer and you will be happy.
