Now it's time to start working on the outside of the Monster................. :o The plain huge brushed aluminum cube was just getting to much to look at without a bit of my style, so today I decided I'd start on the top panel with a simple dual window mod. I went with the dual theme because of the dual radiator water cooling system.
fist a few pics of the complete system as posted in the other thread.

I started modding the outside today, first up is the top panel. I went with a simple dual window to set off the dual radiators of my water cooling system.
First up the before top panel;

Sort of plain isn't it................ :o
Now for the after photo, but before I put the window in (which I still have to do).

Much better looking if I do say so myself.....................
And this is what it'll look like installed.

Speaking of cube cases, I have a clear acrylic cube on the way which might rival your case (ok, so probably not, but it should still be sweet) lol

I pulled my HD rack out again and relocated my HD into the 5.25 bays again and reinstalled a second radiator (Swiftech MCR220), but this time I'm going with a dual loop. The first loop is going to be all Swiftech (as always) and will include the following for the CPU only; APOGEE CPU block, MCR320 triple radiator with 3 TT 80 CFM 120mm fans, "T" line and a MCP655 pump. The second loop will also be all Swiftech including; MCW60 GPU block, MCR220 dual radiator with 2 TT 80 CFM 120mm fans, "T" line and a Laing D4 pump.

Well, I'm back in my UFO and things are a little different and alot quieter............. 8) Gone is the loud D4 and in it's place is a MCP350 along with a complete 3/8" loop for the video card. Also there are a few small external changes as well, mesh fan grils and 5.25 bay cover along with a Icy Dock removeable HD rack with a new WD 250GB HD.

very nice, any performance increase?
Bio-Hazard
04-15-2007, 06:56 PM
Yup, I guess you can say that............ With slow 1200RPM fans instead of 2000 RPM fans and the pump cranked down to 1 instead of all the way up on 5, I'm getting 2c better temps with the Thermochill, that's with my E4300 clocked to 3.2 GHz. Temp was taken with CoreTemp, plus my room temp is somewhat warmer today by about 3c. So I guess the thing was worth the samll fortune I paid for the thing............

Way to restrictive (air and water flow) ............ 8) If I remember right, the Thermochill PA series trashes the BI radiators. Don't remember what CFM fans they were tested with though.

Completed another small but fairly expensive (for me anyways) cooling upgrade today......... 8) Right off the top it's lowered my load temps by 3-4C over what I was getting using the standard APOGEE........... IMHO, the APOGEE GTX rocks in the performance arena, it pretty good as well.
http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/3929/dsc00042au4.jpg
I've got one last item to add (hopefully today) don't really know if it's going to improve performance or not though, depends on who you talk to as to weather it's worth the price, but I'll mess with it a bit to see if I can come up with the right combo...............

ah nice, watcha adding? hehe
Bio-Hazard
04-30-2007, 11:35 PM
Just added a simple 40mm Thermochill performance shroud, it seems to help a little with performance as now I can run a bit higher flow fans with the same noise levels as my old 1200 rpm ones.

Swiftech is coming out with a special 8800 series GPU water block here pretty soon, it's going to match the design of the current APOGEE GTX CPU block and will cover the memory as well. I'm currently saving for a 8800GTS 640 and one of these pretty new blocks.

Updated my MoBo to the XFX 680i LT that I won last month............... 8) Still not sure which board I like better though, nVidia sort of cut the voltages back a bit much on their reff boards IMHO, time will tell I guess.

i suppose you have your psu further away from the mobo than us standard case guys, so you can get wires streighter and more organised?
It's so... so green! Makes me want to get back into computer modding...
Bio-Hazard
05-22-2007, 01:27 PM
The PSU is on the bottom of the case behind the MoBo, it keeps wires out of sight when you look from the MoBo side, but there's nowhere to hide cables in a UFO really so depending what all you have in your case, there can be a lot of wires seen.................
