Ok, today I need some advice and more to the point technical information if possible. Here it is I’m thinking of buying a Hiper HPU-4B580 Type R 580W Modular ATX2.2 PSU but I am also going to be doing a little bit of modding soon, and upgrading...
What it is I’m after is I want to know if you think the PSU will be able to power these devices stably or not.
Asus k8v-x
AMD 64 3700+
XFX GeForce 6800Ultra
Liteon 16x DVDRW
Liteon 52x32x52x CDRW
2x Hitachi Deskstar 7K500 NCQ 500GB
226Watt Peltier
Any information regarding all this would be great, hope to get answers soon.
Thanks very much =]

the 226Watt Peltier might be a problem for just about any normal PSU. That should be run on it's own PSU IMHO.............. 8)

the 580 should be just enough. I figure your needs are around 500 or so watts. It really depends on how much modding your looking at doing
Component -----------------------Wattage Required
Motherboard ----------------------------15-30
Low-end CPU ---------------------------20-50
Midrange to high-end CPU ------------40-100
RAM ----------------------------------7 per 128MB
PCI add-in card ---------------------------5
Low to midrange graphics board ------20-60
High-End graphics board --------------60-100
IDE hard drive --------------------------10-30
Optical drives ---------------------------10-25

Maybe one of those Kilowatt PSU's?
I'm not 'up' on the peltier scene.

There is no selection for specifying a peltier, so what I did was pick 2 x 7800 GTX in SLI and add in a 35W water pump and that should give you enough over a 6800 Ultra to be representative of what the peltier is going to draw.
I would say a good 500W is bare minimum for what you want to do, preferably something closer to 600W with a really strong +12v rail. The Hiper 580 should be enough.
