hey im looking to get a new laptop. wondering where the best place to start looking is.
most strongly considering pentium ms. will probably wait until the new turions have been tested enough that pentium m can be confirmed more efficient, but im already pretty confident the m has a better battery life.
thanks.

I generally prefer Dell for laptops, and they love the M's..

budget probably pretty low. is it possible to stick normal AGP graphics cards in laptops?

Just got this via email, seems like a great price. We buy their refurb Thinkpads for business use and they're in really good shape.

Nope! those few that allow interchangable parts are priced at a premium, and then when you buy the upgrades you pay through the nose again.
a recent refurb is a good way to go from a company with a decent warranty, dell, hp and others all have "factory outlets' if you look at their websites.
Tiger can have some decent deals, but warranty service sometimes is a hassle.

I picked up a low end Gateway a few years ago and added some memory to it. Works well for daily use, although gaming is out of the question with the onboard intel graphics. I think I paid right at $850 shipped to my door.

I really like those Acer Ferrari laptops. Kinda salty though.
