You may remember the name Sytrin from their release of the Nextherm air-conditioned computer case last year.
Well, they've got a new VGA cooler and PSU that we'll be taking a closer look at over the next week or so. Definitely some interesting stuff.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to see a review about this PSU. It looks really promising.

I just read the review on the Heatsink and it was awesome. I love that it stays wicked cool. I am curious however, how well it would perform if you didn't have the Plus model but just the original, because that would make it a fanless heatsink if I'm not mistaken... :?: :?: :?:
I also love that part of the fins are blocked off to force the air to be moved out in a specific pattern instead of everywhere it seems like that would help to direct the flow of heat nicely
Nice job on the heatsink review mods

The base kit still comes with the fan bracket, which you can use to mount your own fan. It comes predrilled for 80, 92 or 120 mm fan holes. I may have to try using a standard fan and post back with the results, whether they are better or worse than the cross-flow fan included with the Plus.

Okay, to test I used a 92x32mm fan I happen to have that pushes a large amount of air, like 100cfm or so. I took out the cross-flow fan and controller that comes with the Plus kit and mounted the 92mm to the bracket and fired it up. Wow, it's freakin loud.
Anyway, the way the heatsink and bracket is designed, there is a very minimal amount of air that comes off a standard axial fan that can pass through the bracket and slots in the fins. So most of the air goes to waste blowing over the back side of the video card.
Compared to the cross-flow fan on the highest speed setting (which is still very quiet) the Tornado-like 92mm only reduces idle and load temps by 1° C. I tested at 500/1000 and also 580/1200 clocks and the temp variation remains constant, just 1° cooler.
So this leads me to believe that the cross-flow fan included in the Plus kit is better designed to work with the fan bracket and is efficient enough with this heatsink that anything louder is just overkill.

Just a little side note: in the review FunkZ said he could not find this heatsink available for purchase yet. Well, I did a search and found it on Newegg for anyone who is interested. It runs about $37 or so.

Awesome! Looks like they just listed it in the last week, the info still hasn't made it to pricewatch yet. I'm glad to see it make it to retailers though!
