I'll put up some pics of ours in a few. I have a photo gallery on my site with the past 7 we've had, but currently my site is down.

if you guys had high speed access and set it up right, some of the OCIA gang here could join in on the LAN action.......hehe

yeh, we've tried doing it before, but it caused some pretty big lag issues. the place that we game at now doesn't have broadband, but that may change over the next few months. if we figure out a way to do it, i agree, it would be very sweet.

Beemer
04-20-2004, 11:17 AM
We would have to set up a web cam so they can see the stripper.

I played a few times over the net when I was in TN and it was rough on cable with only me being remote (played UT and Q3 over the net). It was descent at times, but I think alot was dropped packets.

I did more gaming than picture taking at my last 2 LANs...

Loaded up... I think the interior of my Eclipse was designed for LAN party transportation.

Well I guess it's about time I posted some LAN party pics of my own, this party was attened by such personages as Trunks, El_Seano, My Girlfriend and myself. We played Age of Mythology and UT, ate some pizza and shared some music ( thanks trunks :P )

http://142.227.43.33/Devin_Ashe/images/Lan/IM000178.JPG
My Monitor with my Bad ass ninja warriors (yup GI joe's Snake Eyes and StormShadow.)

http://142.227.43.33/Devin_Ashe/images/Lan/IM000179.JPG

Trunks' Setup you will notice no ninja protectors thus why he lost in AoM and I think he was cheating in UT :P

http://142.227.43.33/Devin_Ashe/images/Lan/IM000180.JPG

El Seano's Rig before we gave up on wireless and had to buy a 24' Straight through cable.

http://142.227.43.33/Devin_Ashe/images/Lan/IM000181.JPG

As you see my girl friend got the best setup probably because we were at her house.

http://142.227.43.33/Devin_Ashe/images/Lan/IM000182.JPG

Trunks Installing UT on Seano's Laptop and in the foreground was my delicious bottle of Coca-Cola.

http://142.227.43.33/Devin_Ashe/images/Lan/IM000183.JPG

My Setup in the foreground, Trunks' in the background and the Router we used to create the network.

http://142.227.43.33/Devin_Ashe/images/Lan/IM000185.JPG

Again My and Trunks' setups this was just before we shut down for the day and went home.

http://142.227.43.33/Devin_Ashe/images/Lan/IM000186.JPG

El_Seano on El_Seano's Laptop again just before the end o the party.

http://142.227.43.33/Devin_Ashe/images/Lan/IM000187.JPG

Everybody's setups, Trunks' Case lighting, and My GF at her computer.

As you can tell I'm a crappy photographer and maybe next time I'll let someone else take the pics while I get own3d at UT again (damn Redemer punks)

EDIT: No big deal I just can't spell. EDIT2: Again with the spelling.

Trunks

Cheating in UT? No no you just stink :P

And for the record, this was a lan test to see how we worked together and it wasn't bad. Next one will be at my new apartment. There were a few bugs we worked out. We found wireless and wired connections friggen suck together. And Achilles found that if you plug someone in through the modem port it will not work hahaha

Bah, I think I'm the only member of this forum who doesn't know other members in the RW :).

I had a group of 4 guys who lanned together all this last summer, I have some pics of that floating aroudn somewhere, along with a video we took out the window where I look like a floating head... :).

BUY a cable?!?! Bah.. we had a spool of cat5, crimping tool, and tons of ends! 8)

Trunks
03-02-2005, 08:42 PM
We had no cat 5, no crimping tool, or ends. It was more economical at the time to buy pre made cable. Besides it was on sale :P

El_Seano

Its gonna be awsome if I can get a apt in the same building as you Trunks. The all we have to do is run a crossover between apts and we instantly double the space to set up computers.( if its w/in 100ft) Only if I can scrounge up the cash to build that monster rig of mine! Then I dont have to use this 'top. Its not to bad, but id like something w/ more power *grunt grunt* I cant wait. Possibly some of you guys/girls would connect via the internet and play too. The more the marrier

And by the way. Trunks didn't cheat. We beat your and your GF collective a@#$%s fair and square at CTF, and Assult...."Head Shot". Good Times, good times

We'll prolly make that monster of a cross over cable our selves. It would be a heck of alot cheaper than buying a 100ft prefab cable. Maybe Gord will let us borrow that high end crimper and tester. Just to make sure we dont mess it up....again

specs say withing 100meters, not feet. you may have already known that and just made a typo, but 100ft vs 100meters is a BIG difference.

Trunks
03-03-2005, 05:31 PM
Yeah I believe it was a typo and yes 100 feet is way less then 100 meters

El_Seano
03-03-2005, 06:04 PM
Yeah, if it was 100ft, as apposed to meters, Cat.5 would not be used! Imagine large buildings having to put a repeater every 100 ft?! That would be pretty bad.

Heh, down at the Computer Science only Linux lab here on campus, we get Unreal Tournament (the original) games going on. I had a hard time staying above negatives the first few games, but now I dominate basically everyone I play with, especially on 'crane' I think it is. Fun stuff.

None of the UT games are my favorite for LANS, actually. I'm sweet at FPS's, but the UT games are too twitch oriented for me. I'm more comfortable with a game that's less twitch and more tactics and brains.

I'll have to disagree... tactics and brains apply in UT style games as well.

They do, but to a lesser degree then twitch. What I mean by that is that beng able to flip your mouse around means more then your weapon combo. And sensitivity is a lot higher in these games then in, say, HALO.

*Shrug*, I always consider my guns in UT. Yeah.. quick, accurate movements are required, little different style.. more quake-ish.. if you're not fast, you're dead.. I'm a big fan of instantaneous 180° headshots. 8)

Their is a certain amount of strategy in UT, but at heart it is a rack 'em up shooter. Games like Counterstrike on the other hand use alot more strategy than brute force. I dont so much have a preference to either one really. Their both alot of fun to play in LAN partys. The ones that dont envolve as much stategy envolve alot more trash talk though, which is, one of the funniest parts of LAN partys.
