I know a little of a few languages (C++, PHP, VB.net, ASP, SQL(if you call it a language))

I can figure some code out if I have to but it's not pretty. How is that java class coming along playafly187?

i enjoyed programming with VB 6.0 and VBA (vb for applications), then i moved to VB.net. Amazing how you can take a crappy language, try to make it more object oriented, and come out with something far worse than you had before. I took a semester in JAVA, enjoyed the class, but decided that JAVA has to be the most bloated/slow language still in existance. Last semester, I took C++. It was definitely the best langauge, but sometimes i got annoyed at the workarounds required to get it to work right. This semester it was ASP and PHP, both using SQL. ASP sucked almost as bad as VB.net, but I'm enjoying PHP pretty well.
i just have had some VB.Net but it was more of an introductory class. I haven't gotten far into programming yet.

its not bad.... although, just like high school, i get the worst luck with teachers... so that really brings down the 'level of learning' that takes place

CoffeeShark retakes the thread, back to programming: (speaking 3rd person is so Karl Malone-ish)
coding business software since '97, moving to .NET now (joy).
/back to off-subject
p.s. change forum topic to "Programming" with an R. Unless I'm missing an inside joke :D

BASIC is still heavily used in the oilfield due to it's ease of use, and ease for troubleshooting over the phone if something goes wrong...not to sure where else it's used these days tho. Remember a bit of it from my highschool days.
