Currently running an Epox EP-8RDA3+ motherboard, AMD Athlon 1800XP+1.53Ghz(Palomino), 1024Mhz DDR333(PC2700 Infineon), Forsa FX5200(128Mb,8X), Creative Labs Audigy2 MP3 running @1.68Ghz, pulling 6347 MIPS, 2632 MFLOPS on Sandra@146MhzX2=292MhzFSB. Added the REGEDIT hack to Nvidia registry entry to gain overclock ability, best score pulled so far is 7342 on Aquamark3@250 core clock, 350 MEM clock. Open to suggestions here. New board to me, back to the learning curve again with voltage settings, RAM timings and so on. AGP is locked down at 66Mhz, PCI set at 32, current voltage is set to 1.75 on CPU, and I can get it to run as high as 1.7Ghz, but it's not stable there.(Still have to unlock the multipliers.) Waiting for a better CPU cooler before I do that though, for now I'll remain somewhat happy with the slight gain I've gotten.

i wouldnt expect too much from that palomino. that was a hot running chip for AMD, and when overclocking, things only get hotter. if you have the cash, pick up a 2500 barton (around 85 bux on newegg i think). you should get some pretty high speeds out of that for sure.

My thoughts were aimed at getting a Barton, I've already had way to much grief in the way of heat from this Palomino, never mind the fact it's locked and while it would improve some with unlocking, the only point would be to see if I could burn it up, and see how hot it would get before it did(may try that on my old board,,hehehe  )

One thing you should know with Aquamark3, that I've noticed, is your CPU score is effected by your graphics score... so I wouldn't trust it.

I just dug around on my home machine, but couldn't find any hard evidence, from memory:

When I stepped up from a geforce4 ti4200 to an fx5900 on my xp2400+ oc'd to 2.2ghz, my cpu score went up 1,500 to 2,000 points..

7,342 isn't bad though, here's a recent run of mine:

FX5900 @ 500/950, AMD64 @ 2.2ghz, 440Mhz DDR:

AquamarkScoreRender: 7380
AquamarkScoreSimulation: 9782
AquamarkScore: 53585

Personally I think I lucked out on that Aquamark score, since then I can't get it to much past 7000, usually just hitting around 6800 give or take a bit. I do agree it really can't be trusted much as far as a benchmark in that regard. It's pretty much my way of testing whether or not the system is stable at a given setting, however, as it will run fine if it is, and will lock right up if it isn't, while simulating most gaming situations. Unfortunately I'm now off holidays again and don't have as much time to sit here and abuse this thing to see what it will do, but I think that Barton is gonna be coming up in a couple of weeks or so here, then we'll make this thing fly!

hey thats a pretty good clock for a palomino if i tried doing that with ma old one (if it didnt die already) it would probably burn out in like 3 seconds.... but hey thats why i got a 3800+
