This is my first mod. I am only starting so please bear with me. I know the wires look like a mess but I will fix that. Also I am going to move the HD case into the 5.25" bay but I will install the drives backwards to help hide cables. I am going to add a 12 x 12 window, UV lighting and custom paint. Here are the pictures.

I could be better. I had it all installed and running when I tried to install the video. I thought that there was going to be plenty of clearance but that was not the caes. I had to rerun the cooling. My plan is move the HD bay up and move the pump under the 5.25" bays. By the way I saw your new case. Sweet.

I got the idea from swiftech. My case is too small to squeeze the rad in and I didn't want it to be seen.

Very cool, love the way the cooling liquid matches the lighting from the rest of the case! It's super nifty!

Just an update on the mod. First let me say I can't wait for spring break. I have hating school due to the fact that the only thing on my mind is the mod. I think i have a problem and will need to seek help. Enough with that. I am starting tomorrow and should finish before Easter. I am painting the case, moving the hard drives and holder into the 5.25 bay, and fixing the cable management issue. The good news is that I will be upping the ram to OCZ EL PC4000 Platinum (2GB) and I am probably going the sli the 7800GTX's. I am going sli because I fear that the wait for my 7900GTX set-up will take forever. Once I get the card I may sell the lonely 7800gtx if anyone is interested. I don't plan on ocing the card so there will be no extra stress on it. I will post pictures as I progress.

Very nice, the colors match well. It should come out very well! And not that it really needs to be said, but be sure to post lots of pics!

The horrible thing about slinging paint is the wait. I will have to wait at least 2 days to wet sand these and put on the second coat. The good news is that I can concentrate on the running of the cables and repositioning of the hard drives.

Here is some more on the progress of the mod. I finally have the innards back together and most of the wiring finished. The tins are in the garage with the second coat curing. Here are some pictures.

Thanx. I wanted to get the inside pics out tonight but I have hit a bump in the road. My H20 res is not permitting me to install my upper cath. Once I figure it out the pics will come.[/quote]

Looks greta! Paint is amazing, I definitely wouldn't know it was a mod unless I knew that the case was silver beforehand!

Good follow up mod: stealth the drive. It will clean up the look even more!

I have the original drive face off and in the process of being painted the same color as the case.

Patience sure is the word. It took almost two weeks to get the paint done. I think that it was time well spent. The only problem is now I have to get it off the floor. Well here is a pic with the lights on. Also my OCZ PC-4000 (2GB) came in today so I can finally be done with the mod tomorrow.

Actually they are both. They are Logisys 12" Day & Night Inter-switchable Cold Cathode Kit - BLUE & UV.

I asked cuz I see nothing white coming out and the blue light is veri intensive.....from what I know UV light is visible as a blue (mauve) light, but it makes white things glow and interact with the UV......anyway nice work!

The lights are set to blue but when I do have them set to UV things get a glowing. It was fun doing the mod. Unfourtunately I will have to wait to another. I think I may wait until Vista, DDR3, New CPU's, and Mobo's come out. It will be a couple years.

In a couple of years captses these thing will be most likely old stuff...

True that. But since my budget is limited I have to wait for it to come out then become obsolete so that I may oc it all, slap on some paint, dremel it, and last but not least use the old tried and true duct tape.

I guess I can't fight the bug. I ordered a window so I will be doing some more cutting in the near future. Also up will be the shortening of all the psu wires so that I may find some more free space. Also I was searching other posts and I came across something interesting. I will be pulling the heatsinks off the board and putting on AS5. I will post in the hardware section why.

The window sounds like a good idea, although it seems a shame to do it right after putting on that beautiful coat of paint!

I agree with privatedonut21 , but if you manage to make it look real real good , go ahead with the window!

I just installed a window on the case. It is a 12 x 12. Also notice the empty slot where the video card should be. My 7800GTX is om it's way to EVGA. Soon they will be shipping me my 7900GTX.

Pro and neat job!

Did the window came with the "border" already installed on it or how did you manage to do that?

captses
06-04-2006, 07:02 PM
I had to do all the cutting on the case and the molding had to be cut to size. It was not too hard to do. The only prob I had was when cutting the side with the dremel. The paint did bubble a bit in spots but the molding covers it. BTW the molding is UV reactive so that is why it is not black.

Shack here is the link to frozencpu. I find this to be a good site. This is where I bought my window.

Also TY zachig. I still have to drill holes in the front bezel so I can mount the switches for the lights.
