playafly can probably tell you that i've been paranoid about this damn ticking sound i was hearing from my car. I already replaced the lifters awhile back but this tick sounds different, sounded like an exhaust leak. I took it to a muffler shop and they said they couldn't find a leak anywhere, so i was fearing something internal.

I decided it was cleaning time the other day and i bought some SeaFoam to burn all the crap out of my engine. what this stuff does is, while your car is running, it sucks into an intake line (normally your brake booster hose) and then the car smokes like you just tried to run diesel through the motor for about 10 minutes and presto, your engine is clean. what i noticed was that smoke didn't just come out of my tailpipes, it also came out from the engine bay. as i looked around the headers i saw some bubbling and a little smoke.... FOUND IT

This whole time, since i bought the car i never noticed this for some reason, probably because i am a dumbass. The rear header pipe was missing one bolt and the other had almost worked its way completely out, the other side was the same way. the very rear header pipe was missing a bolt. I just wish i had tools that could fit down there, i really don't want to pay someone to add 2 bolts to my headers lol.

So see shawn? I TOLD you I heard something hahaha

LOL, that stuff is like putting soapy water on something that is blown up with a gas to find a leak!

great! how about sunday? i have to take the entire header off to be able to line the screws back in. it appears the header pipe has twisted due to the heat and the only way to get it lined up is to take it off and let it cool down to bend back out.

Mr Knowledge, i could use your assistance, but it would have to be earlier in the day than your used to. ill give you a call sometime soon

update: striker and i spent four hours trying to get 3 bolts into the freakin head. we got the pipe lined up finally and the f'n whole was stripped out. luckily striker doesn't like to give up and he managed to get the bolt to catch the threads farther back into the head. the others went it pretty easily after that.

then came problem #2: the car was idling funny and it didn't have very much get up. remedy? 2 spark plug wires weren't plugged in all the way.... how about that for torque? my monster 6 cylinder weeeeee

it ran fine after you got going, but when you started to slow down... idled like my old charger. could it be the chargers problem was a lack of spark? only the guy from fort bragg knows that now.

now it has more get-up than ever before, it runs smoother and drives faster :D i would even go as far as saying it's faster than the day i got it......

lol, not bad...too bad i was in bed when you posted it.

however, the one thing that she did get was my mind set. she is really observant and has an analytical mind (sad that it already shows, lol). for instance, we were sitting on a wooden swing and water started running across the porch. the whole family laughed after both of us watched it roll all the way across the porch, trying to determine which corner it would cut next. ok, enough bragging.

siq, maybe your youngin (when you have one) will be able to drive better than you. i'm hopin anyway, cause i'd hate for you to buy a new bicycle every week for her ;-)
