Is there an application to help test the maximum packet size (MTU) your equipment can handle. Or do you have to sit in the command box pinging your equipment to death untill you get an error.. LOL
Im asking this premptively before setting up gigbit network system in my house and a file server.. There isn't much of a reason to have a fast file server if you cant at least have Jumbo frames on your gigbit network the system would be slowed down by the network :(
I would use google to help me out here but Im not sure what to search for exactly (that and I'd like to give you guys something to think about if you dont mind ;) )

Ive got the rest of the system figured out, Ill use a smoothwall box for my router and hardware firewall needs then out to a gigibit switch (one that supports at least 9kbit packets ;) ) all I need to do is test the network cards and get the approprate cables and I should be all set :P

Thanks in advance for putting up with my geekyness all :P

I found this fourm looking for contests.. now instead of asking OcF about this I'm going to give OIA a crack at it first.
