Battlefield 1942 is on the tops of my list right now, mainly because of Desert Combat (http://desertcombat.com) and Desert Combat Extended (http://www.dcxtended.com).

Vietnam is nice, but it requires a pretty stout computer to play it with any details being seen. i like it, it's just not the type of game i can play after work :-)

Yeah, definitely pushes your system to the max...kinda dissapointing after building this semi-asskicking system to still have to close some services and applications before playing it.
I guess that it is the benchmark to test your system for playing the next generation of games.
I still like it though...there are some cheesy parts, but all in all it has an amazing degree of realism. Just wish the bots acted like soldiers instead of gamers. (not intended to be a cut...i.e. a jeep with only a driver driving through the middle of a bunch of NVA, an M-60 tank spending 5 minutes pushing against a wall)

The single player was pretty good -- prolly the best FPS I've played since half life.
Multi could use a patch, but it's fun regardless.

There's one at gamershell. You can actually hide in a bush and everyone doesn't see you. So far, it looks like a game that you can't just bust up and start killing everyone...you actually have time to sneak around.

if you think about it, it is best to run your detail settings to lowest when playing multi. that way, you dont have a slew of bushes to hide your opponents.

well at 1600x1200 on high details I can see ok hehe
Plus: the guns all have mounted lights, so you can see when people are aiming at you, usually.

Current fave is Wolfenstien Enemy Territory, it's free and comes with some pretty cool mods as well as the source code should you want to create your own mod or map. Far Cry from all of your raves sounds like the next one on my list to purchase...already have the demo, just never installed it.
When it comes to racing games, I'm a HUGE! MotoGP2 fan! Online play is great, and being as I'm a racebike nut, it's one that ranks up there with me.

I played it (actually bought it back in the day). Not a bad game at all. Its big perk back then was its language and blood. It still is probably one of the worst "mouthed" games I've played. I dont think I ever finished it though.

Yeah...it absorbs too much of my time. I use a joystick to fly the jets (can't fly choppers), but can't make my gamepad work. I notice a lot of guys use gamepads, they always are walking sideways. I guess my favorite map is Flaming Dart, playing any role.
When you master the current maps, here are some more:
http://www.redthor.com/downloads/f-bfv_map-pack_2.exe
You will also need this mod:
http://www.redthor.com/downloads/derfire11.exe
There are a few servers that play them. One is RedThor Continuum. The new maps are: Smoke, Jungle Hunt, Riverside Village, The Temple, and Last Light.

Hey thanks! I'll have to check this stuff out.
I haven't played much yet, yeah the choppers are interesting to get used to, I've been sticking to the ground for that reason.
So far it's really fun, been running around mostly with the scoped M21 or M16. :D
Rambo style baby! :P (Some times I like to run around like a crazed nut alone.)

Now that you are truly sick of the intro to "Fortunate Son", right click the desktop icon, "properties", in the target box, immediately after the last quotation marks, hit the space bar and type +restart 1
No more kid whispering "Challenge Everything" anymore either.
I downloaded the demo for Alcohol 120%, and put an image of the 1st disc in a virtual drive. Now the game loads in about 2.5 seconds. The demo lasts 30 days, so I guess I have a month to figure out how to make the thing work in Nero...all attempts have been fruitless up to this point.
Guess I should have started a new topic for this.

FarCry has been my favorite game so far, but have returned to RTCW ......Hmm maybe I should have said re-Retun to Castle Wolfenstein.
The first time I played it was with a Vodoo5 5500 and slower computer, so I figured I'd turn my 9800Pro loose on it this time.
Looks like Halo 2 will be coming out aroud the same time as HL2 and Doom3,
looks like I'll have to quit my job this fall to get some good game time.

Well looks like Im the odd ball here.
My fav for FPS is Deus Ex. To me nothing else compare's cause of how well thought out the game was with the story line & not the typical run around & shoot everything in sight.
Other favs are the Thief series, Brothers In Arms, Command & Conquer, War Craft 2 & 3 & of course the Grand Turismo series.
