This webpage (yes, that's right, no download) claims that by sending a signal of mostly high digit binary code that it will speed up your broadband connection.
http://www.gbrockman.com/pipescrubber/
The theory is that when data is sent over the line, it is comprised mostly of smaller binary digits, the repetition of the same small digits causes the cabling to become polarized and by sending larger digits through the line continuously for a few moments, this utility can de-polarize the cabling and speed up the connection.
It sounded kind of sketchy to me, but I gave it a shot...and what can I say, I'm convinced it worked! It may just be a placebo effect, but I swear that pages load somewhat faster now!
It's worth a try I suppose since it's free and no risk, tell me what you all think![/url]

Ran a few benches, since I know you guys are gonna want some proof
Before running the utility speeds (approximate):
Download: 1200 Mbps
Upload: 92 Mbps
After running for approx. 30 mins:
Download: 1327 Mbps
Upload: 122 Mbps
So it would appear that it did indeed have an impact, it would seem a rather positive impact!
And no comments about my slow connection! :???:

Ill give the site designer a 7 for effort on that one, had to take him least a few mins to come up w/ that one.

Haha, well...like I said, placebo effect!
Although that still doesn't explain the small boost I experienced...hmmm...plus it's not as though there should've have been some kind of jump. At the time of the first test (before the boost) I was the only user on our home network...then when I tested the second time there were 3 users.
Anyway, I was skeptical anyhow, so I'm not too surprised, but like they say, "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is!"
Oh, and I don't generally make a point of reading the source code, but perhaps I should!

I must say though, I am somewhat embarrassed and am tempted to delete this whole thread and pretend as though the whole thing never happened!

I'd be alot more worried abput having downloaded some unfriendly software, than about being embarassed.
That page probably was just a prank, but a through scan couldn't hurt, and alot more caution in the future.

It wasn't anything to download, it was just on the page so I'm not worried about security.
