I was in the student union here on campus and ran across this plasma screen, which usually shows promotional videos for the school...

You should see if that kiosk is on the network and try to get some Red Vs Blue loaded on it.

Since 98? Must look horrible...

"What is Burn-in?
Burn-in is when an image becomes permanently etched onto the display panel. Burn-in usually occurs when a pixel, each of which contains a red, green and blue light source, is activated for long periods. When this happens, the pixel begins to age prematurely. This is due to the shorter life span of the blue phosphor gas which, as it ages, generates a yellowish tint. That tint creates the permeant “etched” image, or burn-in.
"

"What is shadowing?
An industry wide issue for plasma technology, shadowing is caused by still images - such as a computor graphic or static photo - which remain on the screen for an extended amount of time. This effect typically occurs when an imge previously displayed at a higher brightness level remains visable under subsequent lower brightness images. The result is a ghoast-like image, or shadow, that remains on the plasma screen. The so-called shadowing will eventually disapear after displaying motion video for a breif length of time.

I can't wait for organic screens..... *drool*

I've heard nightmares about plasma, and nothing But. Such as: having to run a separate power circuit to power the damn things (TV's), and them upping the power bill by a good $50/month.. heh

And from all I've heard/read they're not supposed to last more than a couple/few years.. :?

Actually they dont look that bad, at least not for the pupose they serve. When you have 32 mil to spend on a building why not opt for a couple 20K $ plasmas?

I'm looking forward to the foldable/rollup organic screens myself, like the one Val Kilmer had in Red Planet.

LCD's don't have these problems...now if making the color Black was better and they get some larger sizes.
