Hi guys, i plan on watercooling my next build with 2 goals in mind.

1. More then enough cooling
2. Silent operation ( in my bedroom.. )

cpu : swiftech STORM or Apogee ?
nb : DD DFI EXPERT
gpu : MCW60
rad : Stealth GTS 360 Black Ice OR MCR-320
Res : DD dual 5.25" bay reservoir
Pump : D5 (cheaper then the MCP655, which is the exact same pump)
Additive : swiftech HydrX

I opted for those two rads since they are optimized for low CFM fan operation (less noise) and 3x120mm Rads should be more then enough to provide good cooling with the overhead i'm looking for.

I've looked at other manufacturers like zalman, polarflo, evercool and vantec and i didn't like their product some are 1/4" only and i definitely want 1/2" for better cooling and for the look too! ( always wanted those big tube in my case! )

I'm pretty much new to watercooling, some advices are welcome!

Thanks.

Get the APOGEE, it works better in multi block setups. MCR320, it also performs well with low speed fans, get whatever is cheaper though, performance should be pretty close. As for a rez, you really don't need one, a "T" line works fine and is alot cheeper, but a rez is much easier for noob's. I don't use NB blocks myself, never seen the need, just added restriction in the loop. Good case air flow works fine IMHO, but water might get you a bit more silance at the cost of slightly less performance.

Thanks, tbh i was hoping for you to stop by

About the NB block, do you think it will decrease performances that much? While OC'ing i don't even want to bother with the chipset as a bottleneck so i thought of giving it extra cooling.

As for the additive, the Hydrx from swiftech is ridiculously cheap compared to others out there (zerex, wetter etc ) is it simply one of those "good bang for the bucks product" ?

I heard all good comments on the Zerex additive too and i was wondering if it's mixable with some UV dye.

thanks again!

The NB block might add a few degrees to the overall loop, nothing to really worry about unless you're going for a extreme OC.
As for the Hydrx, I think it's about as good as any of the others out there. At the temps of the average water cooling loop, all those high dollar additives IMHO are all a bunch of marketing hype. Distilled water and a some Hydrx or anti-freeze works just as well, I only use distilled water and low tox anti-freeze myself and I'm totally pleased with the results I've been getting. Plus it's safer for you and your pets, not to mention mother nature. That Zerex additive is extremely poisonous, even the vapors can kill you.
