I only have around 700, but they are all music I like, well kept and organized. If I download a song and I don't like it, it gets erased inmediatley. So my collection only grows slowly.

1235 on this computer, at this very moment. I'm gonna guess another 500 or so archived on CD's that aren't on here. And, I'm pretty anal (or was on my other computer's 30gig hdd, anyway) about not keeping mp3's on the computer of stuff I have the CD of, which I guess is probably 200 CD's or so of music I may rip at any given time. (I actually DO buy CD's on occasion)

I currently have 2592 loaded in my player right now. I had alot more a while ago, but one day I decided they took up to much space. I've slowly built a collection back up, but since I have a friend with over 30-40,000 of them, I just borrow a few cds from him every once in a while.

Prolly 1000-2000 range for me, I've said though that when I build a house with a home audio system (you know the one that feed to everyroom with controls in each room for that room) that I would just set up a server with all my CD's as MP3's and then be able to access them from any room. I think its a pretty cool Idea, but of course its a few years down the raod and by the time I am building a house there will be way cooler stuff to do.

A bit off topic as usual:

For my IPOD I used to use this program called music match. A very crappy program, but it had one excellent feature: It would look up missing information of the id3 tags of your mp3's.

When the Itunes version for windows came out, I installed that and I'm very satisfied about the program, but it doesn't have that great lookup feature (as far as I can see). My question: does anyone know a small simple third party program to do that same job for me?

Are you talking about looking it up on say a cddb database?

If i recall there used to be a good winamp plugin that would do the same... maybe search on http://winamp.com/plugins/. I myself dont use windows much anymore, and so none of the programs I use would do you much good :(

I'm in west texas, for the past week I've been getting page not found errors on two different connections (dial up and broadband) It wasnt DNS issues on my end, i have a list of about 12 DNS servers I use on occasion when sites wont load for one reason or another. Tried proxies also and that didnt work.

Site has been loading all day for me now but VERY VERY slow, 1-3 minutes for pages to load etc.

I dont think its ya'lls server, acts more like a routing problem between me and the server, trace route and a ping doesnt show anything out of the ordinary though so I'm not sure.

BTW...if you ever get tired of surpass look me up :)

Yep, very slow connections here as well. Usually it's click and read, now it's click, change the tv channel, take a sip, think about my life and then read!
It even timed out on me today a couple of times.

It has happened to me occasionally since registering...though nowhere as often since the site being down...has been slow for the last few days.

I have about 400 Mp3's myself but almost all of them are 320 bit rate, so its a little over 3Gigs worth. With dial-up being the only option here, it takes a while for a good collection.

Yes I have had DSL before and I do know what I am missing :x

I have been getting alot of timmed outs on this site for almost a week, I just thought it was me having the trouble due to all the rain we have been having here.

OK, maybe it wasnt "just me" since other ppl have been having issues to.

I work for a large webhost, so i know all of the things that can cause problems, so the site itself is usually the last thing i blame. Might want to talk to the folks at surpass, especially if you are on a shared server (which you are :) ) Another site being a resource hog could be the cause of the time outs etc.

yeh, i had noticed that the pages were loading slow a few times. i just figured it was the campus network i'm on, particularly since it was happening during peak hours.

for those who don't know, our last webhost just up and deleted our entire site one day and told us to take a hike. we were on a shared server with him and his server got hacked, so his parent company canned his account.

so we switched to our current provider, which is still a shared hosting plan. we have noticed intermittent service, such as sometimes ocia will go down for 3-5 minutes, then be right back up.

we have looked and are continuing to look at the possibility of a dedicated server. who knows, maybe by Christmas :-)
