Hey,

Comment: Wow there's a lot of people that have hundreds of posts on ocia that haven't made a post since I've joined, I wonder where they went.

Questions:
1) How many frames is an average WU? The one I'm on right now (my first) is 20,000. That seems like a lot.

2) Is my computer supposed to make a beep/click noise every time the display changes? It's pretty disconcerting. It's not through the speakers, either, it happens when the computer is on mute... o_O

thanks :)

The number of frames changes with the type of core. There are Gromacs, Tinkers, etc. You can read about the different types on Stanford's FAQ:

http://folding.stanford.edu/faq.html

You're using the graphical client? I dunno, sounds like maybe it's beeping the speaker inside the case? I use the console myself, and run F@H as a service. It's more efficient without the display.

I'll probably switch to that now that my first WU is done.

I don't have a case speaker (NZXT isn't big on that I guess) so that's why it freaks me out heh

yeah, there are a lot of registered users that dont post on a normal basis (or much at all). many join up for contests we host and only post to get their entry in...
