Hey guys, I got a new monitor yesterday, a viewsonic G90fb 19" monitor. I'm loving it, but there's one thing I can't figure out:
According to the specs:
Features
0.21mm horizontal dot pitch
0.25mm diagonal dot pitch
1920x1440 maximum resolution
Displays a maximum resolution of 1920x1440 at 64Hz flicker-free refresh rate for easy-on-the-eyes viewing.
1920x1440 @ 64Hz
1600x1200 @ 77Hz
1280x1024 @ 90Hz
It should run 1280x1024 @ 90 Hz, but I can only set it on 85 Hz. :?
I have an fx5900xt and a second monitor running 800x600 @ 85 Hz.
How can I get it on 90 Hz?

What does your video card support?

What he said and geeezzz is it really necessary to run @ 90hz?
it is if you want the radio waves to fry your brain :D

I've googled it all over the web, but I have no idea what the specs concerning the refresh rates are of my club 3d fx5900xt.
And I didn't say it was a big problem, I just wanted to get the most out of my card / monitor.

I was referring to the supported refresh rates of the video card at each the desired resolution (1280x1024). He only metioned he got his vid card up to 85 Hz at 800x600.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but just like with resolution, refresh rates only go as fast as the lowest of the rates of the monitor and video card. So even if your monitor supports 90Hz @ 1280x1024 but your vid card can only do 70Hz at 1280x1024, your only going to get 70Hz unless you get a new card.
Also, I'm not for sure, but I think most refresh rates are the vertical refresh rates. Currently I'm running 91.5 horizontal and 85.5 vertical (or so my monitor says).
BTW, this (http://www.powerspec.com/systems/system_components.phtml?component=919&selection=9361) page seems to show that your vid card should be able to do 90Hz at 1280, and if so, I'm not sure why its not.

Problem solved.
Under the nvidia tab of the display properties is another tab which says change resolutions. Standard there's only 60 72 85 and 100 mhz. But with the custom resolutions button, you can fill in any number you want and it worked!
thanks for the help!

Most 17in monitors only allow up to 1280x1024 with a 60 refresh. I run mine at 1024x768 with a 85 refresh rate.
