Earlier I joined up the folding@home team as "Rutledge" (my name) and that was a little phase i went through for fun, and then backed away from because my stock cooler was awful.

I just ran through 20 hours of stress testing to check my new clock speed (3.3ghz) on this new bios (went from 7.0-7.4) by running two f@h's at once.

That looks nice to me, so I guess i'll be putting out about 400 points a day ^^

I'm no FunkZ but maybe in two years I'll be close haha

Those 206 pointers (Project 3404) are crap. I'm only averaging between 70-100 PPD per instance from those on my Intel machines. (P4 3.2 HT or P4 2.8 D's)

On some of the bigger ones, like the 5,6, or 700 pointers I'm getting 300+ PPD per instance. My 3800+ at home can bring in 700 PPD by itself. Once you get some good proteins I bet that rig could easily fold over 1000 PPD.

is that all luck, or is it the more you've done the more you can do kind of thing?

Luck of the draw. You do want to make sure you're using the -advmethods and -forceasm flags. Are you running the console or graphical client?

i'm running two console clients

one is 1.5 mill steps, and the other is 5 mill steps, right now.

i don't really know how to close the clients gracefully without interrupting/and open them back up after i've added the tags to the shortcut

If you're fanatical about not losing any work, wait until you see "Writing local files" and then close the window. If you close it otherwise you'll lose at most 15 minutes of work. (the default save interval)

You can also have them run as a service so those 2 windows aren't always open.

if it runs on boot, it'll run out of program files, right? i only know how to add those tags to a shortcut.. do you have any wisdom on that? thanks again ^^

If you run the console executable with no client.cfg file in the folder it will walk you through the setup again.

One of the questions it asks is if you want to install as a service. If you answer yes then the folding will run even if you aren't logged on. To stop the service or change it to start manually you can access your list of services through Control Panel, Administrative Tools.

In order to add flags to a service start, run REGEDIT and navigate to HKEY_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es and scroll down to the FAH listing. Change the DisplayName key to alter the name used in the list of services. Change the ImagePath key to add the -forceasm and -advmethods flags to the end of the path, after the -svcstart flag.

Do you mean to "Image Path"?

Yeah I knew about the setup and the service... all set now I think :)
