hard to say. it's possible that it never happened, but kinda depressing to think we never made it to the moon.

Yeah, it may have been one of those things that just couldnt be done at the time. So, to save face and score one on the Russians you fake it. I still like to think that it happened but one thing bothers me, you would think we would have persued it more after landing - like a lunar lab or something. For now I'll say it happened

Excellent movie with Robert DeNiro where they stage a war.

They even invent a hero, Mister Shoe if I recall correctly.

Well, I'm not going to say that it ABSOLUTELY DID HAPPEN, NO DOUBT AT ALL, because I didn't actually see it or experience it. At the same time, I'm not going to say that it ABSOLUTLY DID NOT HAPPEN because I have no good reason to believe that it didn't.

Whether it did or didn't happen, I hope noone makes a decision without hearing at least some of the arguments from each side. Here's an argument attacking most of the claims made by those who say that it was a hoax. In other words, this guy is pro-landing. He addresses a lot of the supposed "obvious evidences" against a lunar landing offered by the owner of the website that playafly187 posted in the first post in this thread.

I just returned from my trip to Austin, TX where I visited some family, during my stay I went to the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX and got a tour of the actual Mission Control used during the Apollo Missions. The man speaking informed us of how they were able to get the flag to appear as if it were flying because this effect could not be created in space. They used a telescopic rod in the top portion of the flag and extended it at various distances to give the effect that it was being blown by the wind. He directed us to photos were the flag is put into various positions in order to give the best effect. I also got to see the actual capsules from some of the more famous missions and saw moon rocks/dirt and touch one. Just wanted to share this with you because I said to my brother "see I told you" when it was actually this forum I was thinking of when that tour guide was telling us about the flag stuff.

Yea, that's exactly what the guy said in that link that I posted. I think it's legit. At this point, I'm still convinced that we DID make it to the moon.

So......who wants to go back? Seriously - I am disappointed that we haven't returned.

Well, as the guy in my aforementioned post pointed out, it is really expensive to visit the moon via space shuttle, let alone launch an entire space station up there and maintain it. I agree, it's very disappointing that we have gone up more frequently. We could increase all of our taxes to pay the x-odd billion dollars for more space missions...

Not really running anything that needs that much, A few of my games like having it though, and they try to use as much as they can  . I was pegging out my gig of ram running bf vietnam (its pretty ram hungry). I have actually thought about taking it out b/c you can get higher overclocks with less ram. It puts a lot of stress on my northbridge. Everything loads really fast though. :D

I've resisted posting on this thread since Shawn started it...till now.

I've known a fair amount of people that didn't believe it. Most of them remembered when you could buy a new Model T. Many couldn't read nor write, a couple had no other clothes in their wardrobe but bib overalls...even for church.

Personally, yeah, I think they did...though I suppose that it's possible that it was staged...they've done a pretty good job over the years claiming that JFK was killed by one man.

I guess I'm one of the few on the forum that actually remembers it first hand. I was 10 or 11 years old. You know, even then I thought it pointless to do it again. Still feel that way now. Actually, except for maybe the small amout of pharmacology that needs to be done in a weightless environment, I think that the entire space program is senseless. All those scientists could be better employed proving that global warming is a bunch of BS.

Please...no flames...you asked.

Not trying to flame here, just a little different view.

I will agree that NASA sucks up billions of tax dollars and lots of good scientists. But there have been many technologies that have emerged from NASA and it's scientists. You get a lot of great minds working on a problem and good things come from it. Then again I guess the same thing could come from a National Scientific Research Association and they wouldnt have to focus on space travel. All in all I think NASA is good, they have played a big part in making our fighter jets better and our rocket powed weapons more accurate and lots of other things too. BTW Global Warming is a bunch of BS.
