View Full Version : What's the deal with core/mem freq's?

I popped my new 8600GTS in tonight and downloaded the latest WHQL drivers (163.71) and started running some 3DMark tests.
So then I notice it's not displaying the core/mem frequencies, it just shows N/A. My old card had no problems detecting those.
Anyway, I thought it was because the driver was not FM approved so I got the 158.22 they suggested but it still is showing up N/A.
So what's the deal with that?
Also, I always used RivaTuner and it doesn't seem to work with this card, so I had to install nTune to see the clocks. What's up with that?

You can get the new beta drivers if you look that might help .... Look @ nvidia.com in the search bar for 163.75.

I like to stay away from beta drivers, from my experience they're usually hit-or-miss. But just for grins I downloaded 163.76 and get the same results.
BTW I am running the latest build of 03, 05 and 06 and none of them detect the core/mem freq's.
Now that I've gone through some of you guy's compare links though it appears very few are actually displaying the frequencies?

I just doubled checked my 06 score and it does not show the core or memory either. Maybe FM is not up-to-date with the newer video cards.

What kind of scores are you getting?

This is from Tuesday when I couldn't wait and installed the new card on my old system.
I haven't had a chance to play with the card since then as I was putting together my new system and testing the Ultra X3, but by this weekend for sure I should have some better results!
BTW - the beta drivers made my score worse.

Hmmm. maybe I will try 163.71 this weekend. The only reason I am running the Beta 163.75 is because I read that there was an improvment with SLI in Vista.
