View Full Version : CC vs UV CC
Which do you think is a better investment and which one makes a case look better?

UV has a tendency to burn out quicker. also, UV looks good, but a blue or red CC will really make everything stand out.

really just depends on the type of look you are going for. if you want bright lights, get a regular cc. if you have some UV reactive parts inside, go with the UV ones...

or both (what i would do) :-)

then the UV would get washed out by the others ;)
honestly I like CC better. UV just look alittle too flowerchildish to me.

Damnit, I clicked the wrong box! UV CC only look good to me if you have UV parts, even then it looks better with both so CC.(even though I voted for uv cc)

I agree with playafly187, it really does depend on what kind of look one is going for.

I like uv cuz I find less people have them so my case looks more unique with all my uv fans and uv sleeving and of course my uv cathode. 8)

Between the two I'd go with normall CC. Personally though, since I began modding I've become a bigger and bigger fan of LED's. They allow more subtle highlight lighting, and can be better conrolled. LSDiodes is my friend...

yeh, LED's are awesome if you just want to highlight something. i have used them on the front of my case to shine across the drive bays before. i actually don't have any pics of it handy, but i think you know what i'm talking about. Also, transistions from one color to another always seem to look better with LED's, since they don't try to overpower each other so much, though this would be true of most projection lighting versus omni lighting.

I'm going to have a blue "lazer led" And a UV cathode, should look neat... the little LED puts out a lot of light..

Yeah. They're especially good for my uses, because I have a CoolerMaster Centurion sittingin the cabinet next to my desk for my next mod. I plan on setting it up with at least 3 different lighting schemes with different levels of brightness. Flip a switch, your lighting goes from blue to yellow, if you get what I mean. With Cathodes that would get messy. :) I can't see having 6 cathodes, 2 in each color looking nice at the bottom of my case. :D

I don't really like CC's of any type, sure the look nice. However, there transformers create unshielded EMI and don't like the thought of adding unnecessary risks to all those high dollar electronics.
You could have a hardware failure of all most any type and never suspect that it could have possibly been caused by that Innocent looking CC or neon transformer.
Don't get me wrong, I like lights in my computer just as much as the next guy, I just don't use CC's.

That's not a very high wattage transformer though, so the EMI that it's creating is negligible. I wouldn't necessarily mount the transformer on a hard drive, but I don't think anyone has had a hardware failure from a CC.

Well, I know that they create enough EMI that when the transformer is close to a CRT monitor, that it can cause a good deal of flicker. Have CC's been known to cause hardware failure (who knows), it would virtually impossible to tell if they did.
I not criticizing any one who uses them, I'm just saying, personally I had rather not have them in my PC.

I'm modding out my latest case with UV lights and UV reactive cable sleeving. I think it's going to look grear but while 1 CCFL will light up a case pretty well, it will take 2 or even 3 UV lights. That my main complaint with UV...not bright enough. Even the lazer led UVs aren't that great.

They don't need to be very bright with UV reactive material to light up...

UV off...... UV on...... (mounted on the inside of the case side, above the window) psu cables will probably light up better if I mount it vertically on the left inside of the door, but then you can see it when viewing the case from a frontal angle...
