looking for free software to convert DVD files to video files. I have DVD Decrypter, it works fine to decrypt DVD's to the individual files. I downloaded the free version of ImTOO DVD Ripper, it works, but the free version will only convert about 5 min or so of files. Everything I've found so far is the same...limited demo versions of for purchase software. I know there has to be something free out there.

I want to take pieces of movies, tv shows, etc, from DVD's and make music videos out of them with Windows Movie Maker or similar. (DON"T ASK) If someone has a better idea, go for it, I'm totally open for suggestions.

I'm totally ignorant about video stuff...never messed with any of it before....I only know what I've learned during my several hours of googling for the software.

I just got back and haven't had time to read everything, but you should be able to find what you need at dvdrhelp.com. It lists just about every video editing/converting/authoring/etc program out there, very detailed tutorials, etc. I have never found a better source of info for video related stuff. There forum is very active as well (so search the archives before you post a new topic, as you'll probably find 20 dups).

http://www.labdv.com/dvdx

Use any codec you like to extract the files.

www.dvdshrink.org

to copy an original dvd to a dvd r (ofcourse owning the original  )
It lowers the bitrate to make it fit on one dvd r.

the best programs are always free I have found :D

Tks. I downloaded DVDX. Probably will take a while to figure out.

Already had DVD Shrink, its a good program.

Actually, here it the states, it doesn't matter if you own the DVD or not, it is illegal to copy them, period.

It's illegal to drink under 21 too, but tell that to the kids down at the beach during senior week.

Well, I spoke too soon...it failed me this afternoon...don't know if it is DVD Shrink, Nero, or burner.
