The trailer looks nice, I don't know if it was my connection or if they were stupid enough to release a trailer with low frames, but mine looked a little choppy, especially at high stress times (which, on a trailer, wouldn't be any different).

FarCry the original, and Crysis also, never totally appealed to me because it was a lot of the same: just run around an island where nothing's really different from anything before it, and shoot guys that take way too many hits.

They were both fun in their own ways, but show me something new, right? I think because it's in Africa, they can experiment a little bit more, but it will still be drawn towards their funky game design where you: run around for a while, come across a small gathering of huts with an asston of guys that have catlike hearing, attempt to methodically take them out, turn into rambo when the onslaught comes, and repeat.

Also, will there be monsters or super advanced technology in this one? O_O

I would agree Far Cry could get a little monotonous at times, no matter how quiet you tried to be you were always spotted so you had no choice but to take out everything. Guess it was that bright red hawaiian shirt that gave you away.

But I thought Crysis was a lot different. You can play it Rambo-style if you want, or sneak in and download the data without killing anyone. You can actually recon an objective, determine the best approach and then execute, even if that means going back for a vehicle, sneaking in to plant a few explosives or circling around and coming in from the rear. There are certain objectives where you have to blow something up and undoubtedly stir up the troops, but with the option of silencers on all your weapons plus your bare hands, or even a crate of bananas, you can take out a few key opponents and then disappear.

I don't know how well that is going to work in Far Cry 2 without the benefit of stealth ala nano-suit, but hopefully they've built into the game mechanics the ability to remain undetected at least if you stay out of line of sight. Who knows what the non-human element will be in this one, although I don't enjoy fighting aliens and monsters as much, I'm sure there will be some. I think Crytek's games combine a nice mix of modern warfare type of FPS with the fantastic like Doom³/F.E.A.R./Prey, and am definitely looking forward to Far Cry 2.

Even with the incredibly great hearing of the AI characters, you could actually hide under a bush or wherever, and plan your approach. I think it was the first standalone FPS I ever played where you could actually hide. Among the first where you could play non-Rambo style.

Besides the obvious (nanosuit, graphics, etc) I find not that much difference in gameplay between the Far Cry and Crysis.
