My 9yr old daughter has been asking for a digital camera for the last few months, and I figured rather than buy her one I would finally replace my aging Canon SD200 Elph with something better and give her the old one. Nothing wrong with it, works perfectly, but it's just a 3mp and only 3x zoom. With both kids in sports now I have been wanting something with more zoom, faster speed and better quality.
So anyway, just picked this up at New Egg for $225. There's no way I wanted to spend the money on an SLR and even some I was looking at like the Canon S5 IS and Nikon P80 were a little high for me. This Canon SX100 is 8mp and 10x zoom and still fairly compact but the price is what sold me.

Plus staying with a Canon all the controls and software are familiar. I might have to RTFM on all the manual settings if I want to play around with that, but mostly I think I'll just be using the auto.
