how do you clear cmos?

Depends on the motherboard. On most there is a jumper with three pins, if you change the jumper and turn on your system, it won't post but your cmos gets cleared. Power down and put back the jumper.
If you don't have a jumper, take out the cmos battery on your mobo, unplug the power cord, turn your system on and it wil turn on very briefly (the caps get emptied), wait a couple of minutes, put in the battery and the power cord and you're ready to go.

also, some mobo's allow you to reset the cmos inside the bios

Also some motherboards you can reset the cmos by holding down the insert key while powering on. :wink:
