Licence Plate. Car Tag sounds like a dangerous game, where after the car hits you, you are "it". :wink:

I have heard the term "tags" but not "car tag", nonetheless we call em plates around these parts.

Definitely plates.... Granted, I think they called them car tags while I was stationed in Germany.... Too many years and too many beers ago

In my 3 years working at a dealership, I've never heard anything called "tags" other than the month/year expiration tags for the plates.

Plates here in Ontario, Canada....and put a new "sticker" on them every time that they are renewed, cause it's a sticker for when the plates expire.

Tags/Tabs are just the yearly renewal stickers.

Tend to call them plates mostly, but have referred to them as tags as well. Still wished I'd kept my set of collector plates from back in the day when we got a new pair every year. The year of expiration was actually stamped into the metal, prior to the sticker idea. I had 7 matched sets in good shape, and probably about 50+ others from various provinces either single or where one was in poor shape.
