Okay I bought a 9600xt a while back and it had a promotional offer of getting Half Life 2 for free. Well now I'm tired of waiting on this crap to come out and it is now offering for me to download some kind of game valuepack. Should I say screw it, I want my HL2 or go for this gay valuepack?

I think HL2 will show up eventually, and should be worth the wait (I hope).

Look at Doom3, hitting the shelves a year & a half after its original expected release date.
My gut feeling tells me HL2 will be out between Sept. and Nov.

I'm going to assume you could just dl most or all of the games in the value pack. Whereas if HL2 eventually materializes, you'll have a personal copy w/ cd key ready for online play.
The value pack is probably a bunch of those OEM crap games you get when you buy a card. (Aquanox, Duke Nukem Manhattan Project, blah blah...) You probably wouldn't want to dl those anyway.

yeh, i'd wait it out. in the meantime, buy yourself a copy of battlefield 1942 for around 20-30 bucks, download desert combat and dcx, and play with us online.

(on a side note, techniq bought a copy last night, so if there are any DCX'ers out there with valid cd keys, we'll be playing online pretty regularly if you wanna join in.)
