OK, I have an "AMD Athlon XP 2500" OCed to 2.2Ghz. Well, since Half-Life 2's recomended speed was 2.4Ghz so I was wondering that how much you could OC the "AMD Athlon XP 3200" to. If anyone knows tell me plz.
PS. Sorry for the newbe question...

There really is no magic number for overclocking, you could have two identical procs and one may overclock great, one may not overclock at all.
You can increase the odds in your favor sometimes ( Tha AMD mobile and the XP 1700 with the JIUHB stepping come to mind) By doing some research and seeing what kind of OC's ppl are getting and with what procs, what stepping codes erc.

The 3200+ has already scaled close to its theoretical limit. From what I have read most people are only getting about a 200Mhz. OC from the 3200+, but it should get you to the 2.4Ghz. your looking for.
On a side-note, a 2500+ Mobile should get you 2.4 with out much trouble, and with some serious cooling I've seen claims of over 2.8 with these little gems

i think the rating is also mostly to do with the pentium speed rating not the actual clock speed of the amd processors. eg the 2500 is supposedly the amd equivalent of the p4 2.5ghz
like said above really it doesn't have a set number. keeping it cool and stable is the only thing keeping you from reaching what you want. you do those two and you can pretty much reach a reasonable number

yeh, if you've got a 2500+, HL2 will run just fine. granted oc'ing it would be nice, but you'll be able to play the game just fine without it oc'ed

True.....
If the game makes it out this year, odds are I'll be playing it on a OC'ed 1700+

I overclocked my xp 3200+ to 11.5 * 210 = 2415 MHz, and I can't go any further because of my PC3200 mem (OCIA wouldn't give me any new  ). The good thing is, that the processor is multiplier unlocked (mine is, at least).
But as already stated, the xp m 2500 is much more worth for your money.

Well I have had my Mobile 2500+ up to 2.7ghz on air but I had to put it back down to 2.6ghz cuz it's hot here lately and my room is like a sauna. :(
