Google just put another one right in the face of Microsoft. To help win over Hotmail customers (amongst others like yahoo), Google has added three new features to their beta Gmail service.
The three features are:
Import contacts: Gmail now allows users to import their e-mail name lists from Yahoo Mail, Outlook, Hotmail and other competing e-mail services to Gmail "in just a few clicks."
Signature options: Gmail allows users to automatically add a customized signature to the end of all outgoing messages.
"Safari" browser support: Gmail is providing compatibility for Mac OS X "Safari" users running versions 1.2.1 and higher.
Also in the plans is POP3 access. I must say that i've been using Gmail for a little while now, and I'm pretty impressed. If they add POP3 access, I might use them on a more permanent basis (well aside from my OCIA mail and work mail). Wonder if Google will ever pursue making an OS?
