Okay, so I don't know if this qualifies as an entertainment centre, but basically it's my work / study / relax / overclock / etc. place.

Notice the broken door on my box ;-)

Not much of an entertainment center but not bad for an 18 year old who just moved out

when it did a close up of the dude, the cat pawed at the guys hand on the screen.

He only watches it when we are, so I think he is trying to figure out what's so damn interesting about the glowing box.

Actually, right after you left I caught him watching Conan O'Brian while I was sitting at the computer. So it's definitely a hobby he's picked up.

I dig the entertainment center of course, but the hardwood floor is gorgeous. :D

yeah, the floors were a BIG plus in helping us decide on this house. the living room, dining room and master bedroom upstairs are all hardwood floors. The two downstairs bedrooms are carpeted

thanks its about the only thing in that pic worthy of drooling over lol

46 inch widescreen Hitachi Rear Projection HDTV.

The stereo is about a 12 year old crappy Technics, except the dvd player is new and a relatively new DSR 500 HD Satellite box (the silver component at the top)

ive always been weary of projection tvs. i hear that you can hardly see the picture if you are sitting at an angle... of course, this was several years ago and the technology could have easily fixed this.

alot of times still the same. it all depends on how much you want to spend on it.

bromy

True to an extent. I was very weary of buying a projection tv for just that reason and the burn in issue as well.

However when buying this tv i compared many different brands, and the Hitachi has about the best viewing angle. Believe it or not the Sony I looked at was terrible from any angle and the image from dead on was garbage.

But for the way it's set up here, viewing angle isnt an issue anyway.

One thing you have too keep in mind with a RPTV is burn in, 1'st thing to do is turn down the contrast and brightness. All tv's ship in "torch" mode (everything cranked up) so that on a showroom they have the brightest picture. When the contrast is high the risk of burn in is very real. Those station logos are brutal.

you'd be surprised. if you have a nice screen to project it on, it'll make all the difference in the world. here at the university, we have some that you really can't tell are projection screens compared to a really big TV. also, the price is coming down significantly on them. oh, and they don't take up any space, especially if you mount them on the ceiling. :-)
