So where does your nick name come from?

I'll start off by explaining mine:

My real name is Jurriaan. But 2 years ago, that was way to difficult to pronounce for the then 2 year old of my godparents here in Chile.
So she invented Jurtje, which actually means little Jur in Dutch (like in spanish: Carla => Carlita), I liked it and since nobody has that nick name, it stuck.

So there you go, who's next?

There was a guy with the same first name as me, we needed a way to distinguish b/w us. My initials are BMW - hence Beemer.

KryoNexus

erm, mine was just kinda thought up one day. anyone that knows what a "nexus" is by definition might be able to see what i was going for.

however, since this is a big story section, i'll explain my other handle. i used to go by MasterRu. This came about from a combination of things. When I was a freshman in high school, there was a guy named Paul that went to school there as well. Both of us wore our hats pulled down pretty low, so a friend of mine started calling me Paul and called Paul Brandon (my real name). When calling me Paul wasn't funny anymore, it got extended to Rupaul. Then the nickname of Crossdresser was born from that. Over the years, it just got extended to Ru. In fact, most of my closest friends still call me Ru.

The second part of MasterRu came from a "clan/gang/clique" that we had in middle/high school. It was called the "Mastas". It was short lived and eventually turned into the "Royals" instead, but when I needed a new handle, it came back. And so MasterRu was born. I quit using it primarily because when I met people online, that assumed it was oriental and that it was supposed to represent me being in the martial arts, so I came up with KryoNexus instead. I had debated on using one of the Periodic Elements for my handle instead, particularly Carbon, but somebody was already using it on Bit-tech, so I steered away from it.

Mine came from a science-fiction book that I only got as far as the second chapter on before getting bored with it back in 9th grade. I believe it was the name of a town in that second chapter. Been using it ever since.

I've always been the quiet type (in real life, those of you who've 'chatted' with me online, know better. ;) ). But, back in about 1997, a little before I was introduced to Linux, "silence" was taken on Dalnet, so "silenze" was the next closest thing in pronunciation.. So here I am, 7 years or so later, still using the same nick, and the same linux distribution.

hehe kryo... remember when we had you wear a dress for our senior project play? hehehehe

Mine was originally Rubix and I thought I needed a new nick so about 3 years ago on mIRC I was just making up names and siq was the last one I made up and actually liked. Ever since then it just stuck.

My nic comes from my other hobby...namely speed ;) Over the years I've built a few drag cars, street muscle cars, trucks, and motorcycles...which ultimately is where everything started. I fell in love with bikes, and since then all my cars sorta look like crap ;) The handle was used as my original chat room nic for yahoo, and still use it today, if and when I bother with chat. Sort of became a forum junkie  Anyways, met many people that I used to chat with, by riding bikes all over western and northern Canada (logged almost 60,000 k one summer alone) and the name stuck. People actually call me "Roadie" in real life now....

mine came from a local memphis rapper, Playa Fly... the 187 is some police code or something, so i just put it all together and ta-da....

sure, it sounds all ghetto and stuff, but im pretty much the total opposite in real life, although i do like rap music...

187 = homicide....Gots to watch this guy

I got mine back in the CB radio days.....Back when CB's where the thing, I was tweaking radios & modulators for performance in my basement...Don't laugh, it made good money.

Hence...UndergroundTech

Originally saw this name from the Nintendo gam "Bad Dudes" You had to choose between Blade or Striker and I thought Striker was the coolest name ever. AOL came around and of course it was taken, so 777 became a permanent fixture and the rest is history. Actually, not history. If I have any kids then a son will be named Striker. For that reason I may never have kids LOL!
