My system
1600 Duron@133
Biostar M7NCD Pro
2-256 Corsair 3200
Sapphire Radeon 9200
Princeton VL-1916 LCD
WD 120g HD 7200 8MB Cache
Would 2400+ be better than the 1600 Duron
as i do not game
only surf the web and e-mail
the 1600 is fast but will the 2400+ make a difference :?:

You won't see a difference, if all you use it for is to surf the web and check e-mail.
A 300Mhz. chip would be more than enough, if thats all you use it for?

I don't know about that....
The machine will boot significantly faster, and programs will load faster.. and if you wanted you could play a game..

Yeah, but just to surf the web & check email...It would seem the chip he has now, would just roll over & die from boredom :cry:

That chip is probably like"Come on, give me a challege already!" Its probably sitting there just hoping that someone will want to defrag a hard drive or something.
I know that we all love preformance and love the idea of having a faster box with higher capabilities, but if your only maxing the processor when you load windows, its just not worth the time, money, or hassle of installing a new chip.

Even if he's not "maxing the processor" while loading windows, the other would still be faster.
But I do agree, the Duron 1600 is more than enough for internet/email for the average user, it would drive me nuts. ;)
