What is everyones opinion on wireless mouse and keyboard. I'm still a bit sketchy on the matter.

It comes down to a matter of opinion really. The good part of cordless is the uncluttered desk. The bad is, they require batteries, and batteries die, usually when you least want them to. There are also issues with XP and waking from sleep mode with wireless devices. Just my two cents, for myself, I stick with corded.

I have not tried a wireless keyboard, but I use a Logitech MX700 wireless mouse and could not imagine going back to a corded mouse.
It includes rechargeable batteries & charger, and I have not run into any issues with it not playing nice with WinXP, but then again my PC never goes into sleep mode.
The biggest improvement is in game play and not having the cord getting hung on the edge of your desk during those critical moments in the game.

I use an MX510 with the wire anchored down.. it has a really soft wire. I love this mouse.
:D

I don't care for wireless stuff.

I use a Logitech "Premium Desktop USB" wired keyboard and wireless mouse. No real complaints, at least not enough to change to my wired mouse. I imagine my next mouse will not be wired either.

Well, I actually do have a real complaint about this particular mouse. Though the batteries go in alternated, as in all other battery stuff, the slots are not alternated...the little spring is on the same side in both slots. So, on one side the battery will not just slip in...and I usually have to go get my glasses to see which battery goes which way.

Pros:
-no wire on mouse (I find that for some reason mouse cords are always about 6" too short)

Cons:
-mouse is extremely heavy (weighs probably 3 times what a Logitech "USB Wheel Mouse" weighs)
-batteries last 2-3 weeks (this computer is used alot)
-batteries will undoubtably die during a critical point in a game (adds a new challenge...can you change them "on the fly" before you get killed?)
-PITA if you restart computer while batteries are dead (i.e., you have to go to the store to get new batteries because the kids took your spare ones and power goes off while you are gone...ask me how I know)
-wire serves as a tether if you drop mouse
-takes longer to get computer out of sleep mode (have to move mouse around and click for a few seconds, I suppose since the mouse is also in sleep mode) as opposed to just left clicking once on a wired mouse

So i guess for me price is going to be the real issue

Personally, I couldn't go back to wired mice. :-)

If they ever come out with a wireless version of the mx510, I ll switch. Price is the biggest thing. Most people go wireless and dont go back-more freedom. Now a bluetooth mouse/keyboard would be sweet.

I've been running a wireless keyboard for about 4+ years now and couldn't go back. being able to lean back in my chair, or sit on my bed when I had my computer in my room, was great. I've also used many cordless mice, which is really where wireless shines. I have recently moved back to a wired (albeit the glorious mx510), but I still have my mx700 on my other machine. I've also just recently bought a new wireless keyboard for my main system, and moved the 4+ year old logitech (which still doesn't miss a beat).

In short, definately go wireless, and especially logitech (Microsoft is the devil, remember that).

my experience with wireless blows, the one i reviewed lagged horribly, and you can forget FPS games. I had a fun time trying to click on icons on the desktop with the wireless mouse. I also reviewed a generic brand so I think im biased
