View Full Version : Back to school....
back to school, to prove dad I'm not a fool...
It's back to school time around here. Rant about your trails and tribulations here :).
Trying to wait in line for the financial aid folks. When you need a sign in sheet and the whole building is full of people waiting, you know you have a problem.
When you buy a book for a class number (eg BOA 2613) and it turns out that book isn't for that class, you need the OTHER book. Hope their return policy is decent.
Driving 30-40 minutes only to find out your only class that day is canceled.
All these things seem to be a beginning of the year ritual around here.

Dropping the remander of my MCSE classes due to low enrollment. Forcing me to find 10 hrs in a week of classes that arent closed. I hate marshall!

Buying $400 worth of supplies like I know is going to happen. :?
A 4-day mandatory orientation spanning across the entire weekend. C'mon, the school only has 300 students and has about as much floor space as the JC Penny. I'm not going to get lost. How involved can it be?
An Introductory Sociology class requiring me to WRITE AN EIGHT PAGE PAPER?!... so much for introductory. And i have to say the math professors here at this university do not wash their hair. My calc teacher today was a character. Look like either he used some kind of pomade or he hadn't showered in atleast 3 weeks. So far so bad. Can't wait to see what my management class brings.

heh, calc teachers, mine talked like stewarts mom on mad tv. I do like the ladies being all dressed up for the first few days. That should change by oh say Wednesday or so. Good while it lasts though.

The thing I like most is that the teachers order the most expensive books for you to buy and when class starts the book store never ordered the books. But the teacher wants you to keep up with the reading. I just find that funny.

or even better, you purchase that expensive book, then end up never even using it

Heya, AB! Good to see you here.
What I can't stand? Getting a reading assignment the very first day to be done by the next class, but not getting in the loan money in time to buy the book. :? Luckily, all these art teachers are pretty laid back and aren't giving me a hard time about it, unlike the *last* teacher I had.

Heh you can always use the expensive books that you never use as door stops. I find that more satisfying than selling them back to the book store for $2.
Heya K, man just logged in on COH last night and i was surprised they changed some stuff...I do damage now. Now i have a purpose in the group haha. Also You story is like my calculus class last semester a crap load of homework on the first day and no book...

Please. I've got enough books left over from my first year of college that they wouldn't let me sell back to prop open 10 doors.
They changed the defender's damage in CoH? I haven't played mine in so long I didn't notice the change. We'll probably play that tonight or some NWN, so keep a watch out on the SG. =) You've got some catching up to do.

Man, I can't even imagine what you guys pay for those books....I paid $53 for my calculus book in 1977...it was by far my most expensive book.
I still have several door stops at my parents' house that the bookstore wouldn't take back...VINTAGE doorstops...hmmmm....ebay.....
$143 bucks for a Management book.

I love how the bookstore will sell you a book for $150, and only give you back $15 when you resell it to them
Apparently I bought the wrong book. Who knew the books would be different for the same class number on two different campuses. They won't give me my money back, said i could trade it in at the end for 50% less... i call bullshit

::rolls eyes::
Freakin figures. The last time I tried to sell books back at Northwest, half of them were going to a new edition, so out of 9 books, they only bought 4. Got $100 total for the four of them, when I spent over $500 to begin with. My last semester there, I didn't buy a single book and surprise, we didn't even use them.

One of my math books this semester was $90 used I find that to be a rip off hehe. And the sad part is i could probably pass the class without reading the book. I only open the book for the problems for homework.
