My dad has a Toshiba portege 7200 which takes SODIMM PC 100. If I buy a SODIMM PC 133 will it clock down as with regular memory? Or do I really have to buy PC 100?

I know regular desktop pc 133 will clock down. I'm assuming the laptop versions do the same thing, but then again, you know what they say when you assume something.

I'm not aware of any complications that would pose either..

Should work... I know with desktops its all backwards compatible, I don't know of any reasons why it wouldn't be the same for a laptop.

i'd be really careful with this. my inspiron 8100 for instance only takes very specific specs of memory. laptops can be much more fickle about memory than desktops, so i would check with the manufacturer before you buy anything.

maybe about the banks.. but I don't see a complication with clocking 133 to 100.. always a good idea to check though.

Possibly, but I also remember when I was trying to upgrade a Gateway 400c, I called Gateway and they told me that a 433 Celeron was the most I could install.
Hhmmm...I had no trouble getting a 500 celery to work.

Not saying there wrong, but they sometimes are.

that guys problem sounds like timings to me... backing down to 100, timings are probably getting screwed.. and I doubt you can specify those in a laptop bios :P

while most cheaper laptops arent powerhouses and tweakers, like our desktops, they can come in very handy :)
