This card just will not overclock. I've tried four different programs including ATI tool, rage3dtweak, rivatuner, and radlinker. I have the omega drivers which supposedly let you overclock this card. Anyone know what I might be able to do? I have heard of BIOS mod's but I wouldn't know where to find a credible one.

I havn't found any options to OC using the omega drivers, but have had no problems using ATi Tool.

Have you tried to OC it under a new profile? ATi Tool will not let you make any changes to the Default settings.

When I select my overclocking changes on any program, i run a 3d program or restart the computer and the clock reverts to default settings ( usually following a VPU error). I think its called being Clock-locked.

Interesting.... After doing a little checking it looks like PowerColor has indeed locked the Bios on there 9200se and probably other Mfrs have as well.

For playing video games, I don't think you would get the results your wishing for even if you could OC the thing. Due to it being only DirectX 8.1 and having a lacking 64bit memory bus.

I would recommend selling it and getting no less than a 9600 (that being the very minimum) if you have hopes of playing any of the newer games that are out.

Just out of curiosity, is it PCI or AGP?

If your manufacturer clock locked your card, you might try flashing your BIOS with a BIOS from another manufacturer of the same card.

Get your Bios's here (http://www.mvktech.net/).

It's AGP, I have a 9800pro in my REAL computer. This is just my experimenting computer. Thanks for the link to the BIOS site ill check it out.

Should you try the BIOS, be very careful. I've heard of several people trashing their vid card, due to a BIOS install gone wrong.
Good luck and keep us posted, how it turns out :)

Either keep a PCI video card handy or make an automated startup disk to switch back to your original BIOS (which you should always back-up). Then there's little that can go wrong.
