I have a shuttle AK32A MB with an Athlon 1700+ that I'm trying to OC. I already have the latest BIOS but I cant get the FSB past 166 nor can i get the multiplier past 12.5. Is my MB holding me back, or is there something else I can do?

check out the oc'ing guide, its really good. you may need to up the vcore and voltage going to the ram to get it stable but be careful and be sure to read up about it before you do it

Does the FSB in the BIOS show anything beyond 166 or is that the speed you run into problems with? And does your 1700+ have an unlocked multiplier?

VIA KT266 chipset... I'm surprised you can do 166! :?

(You're maxing out that motherboard.)

The BIOS stops me at 166 and I havent unlocked my multiplier yet.

As long as you posted the right motherboard model, you won't get it any higher until you buy a new one.. :?

If it's a VIA KT266 Chipset, I would have to agree with Silenze. Either be happy where its at or upgrade, but I don't see you getting much more out of it.

:( That sux.... I've been looking at a Gigabyte GA 7N400 Pro2, I like the 4 IDE channels, any opinions??? Or is there something that else I should look at. I want to be able to push this XP1700 to the max. Thanx for the input.

Gigabyte makes good boards, and that's a great chipset, dual channel is always good.

Looks like a good buy to me, but it wouldn't hurt to read a review on it. ;)
