easy solution though. just don't play DVD's on your Xbox. Seriously, maybe it is hindsight, but I never used a game console to play my movies anyway. for one, standalone dvd players generally have better sound technology.

That's true that you get better quality from a standalone, but as far as I'm concerned, why spend the money? I have a smaller TV (25 or 27 inch) so I'm not going to notice any difference between my XBox and a standalone, and since I already own an XBox, it was the difference between spending $15 for the DVD remote and $50, $100, or $150 on a DVD player. The box won out.

Not a whole lot of difference. :) I can have buttloads of quality coming out of the source, and it doesnt matter if it's all the same after its gone through the cable to my TV.

Not to mention I don't have enough money to blow it on a small difference. :)
